Other Families Allied to Ours

These pages are a compilation of my work and that of others. You are welcome to use anything on this page, but be aware that although I have been as careful and accurate as possible, I am not a professional genealogist. I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. This page is different from most: this family is not directly related to us, but is allied through frequent marriages.   HOME

Hull Family Connections

This family is not directly related to us. I include this partial descent list due to the frequent intermarriage with our family on both Rita’s and Bill’s side. I have left out most of the children, including only those who married into our lines.

Richard Hull was born 1599 in England, and died 1662 in Connecticut. His wife is unknown.

Some sources have him as a son of [BEAHM 62672] Thomas Hull and Joan Person, but this is probably incorrect.

Richard and his wife probably had several children, of whom we list one:

a. John Hull was born in 1640 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 6 Dec 1711 in Wallingford (New Haven) Connecticut. He married first, about 1665, Mary Beach, daughter of Richard Beach (1611-1691) and Katherine ___. Mary was born in 1642 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, and died sometime between 1679 and 1690. John had three other marriages (Tabitha Tomlinson widow of ___ Wooster, Mary Messenger widow of ___ Benedict, and Rebecca Keeler widow of Benjamin Turney), but all children are from the first marriage.
John and Mary had several children, of whom we list three:

a1. Joseph Hull was born in 1668 in Connecticut, and died in 1744. He married in 1691, Mary Nichols. Mary was born about 1670 and died Apr 1733 in Connecticut.
Joseph and Mary had nine children (Samuel, Mary, Joseph, Caleb, Andrew, Mary, Sarah, Abijah, Nathan), of whom we list three:

a13. Caleb Hull was born 4 Feb 1696, and died 8 Sep 1789. He married Mercy Benham. Mercy was born 6 Aug 1703, and died 19 Apr 1766.
Caleb and Mercy probably had several children, of whom we are interested in one:

a131. Sarah Hull was born 25 Apr 1725 in Wallingford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 19 Apr 1754 in Cheshire (New Haven) Connecticut. She married 29 Apr 1752 in Cheshire (New Haven) Connecticut, Reuben Atwater [BEAHM 7822.6.2.1], son of Mary Ward and Phineas Atwater. Reuben Atwater was born 13 Oct 1728 in Wallingford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 23 Aug 1801 in Blanford, Massachusetts. They had two children and Sarah died from the birth of the second. After Sarah died, Reuben married her first cousin Mary Russel (a161 below).

a16. Mary Hull was born 13 Sep 1699 in Derby (New Haven) Connecticut. She married 2 Nov 1721 in Derby, Timothy Russell, son of Samuel Russell and Abigail Whiting. Timothy was born 18 Nov 1695 in Derby (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 21 Aug 1774 in Oxford (New Haven) Connecticut.
Mary and Timothy probably had several children, of whom we list one:

a161. Mary Russell was born 16 Oct 1726 in Derby (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 8 May 1807 in Cheshire (New Haven) Connecticut. She married on 30 Dec 1755, Reuben Atwater [BEAHM 7822.6.2.1], son of Mary Ward and Phineas Atwater. Reuben Atwater was born 13 Oct 1728 in Wallingford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 23 Aug 1801 in Blanford, Massachusetts. He had first married Mary's cousin Sarah Hull, (a131 above).

a17. Sarah Hull was born 13 Aug 1701, and died in 1763. She married William Beach [BEAHM 15736.9.1.1], son of Isaac Beach and Hannah Birdseye. William was born 7 Jul 1694 in Stratford (Fairfield) Connecticut, and died 26 Jul 1751.

a2. Benjamin Hull was born 10 Apr 1672 in Stratford (Fairfield) Connecticut, and died 30 Mar 1741 in Wallingford (New Haven) Connecticut. He married Elizabeth Andrews, daughter of Samuel Andrews and Elizabeth Peck. Elizabeth was born 17 Jul 1674 in Wallingford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died on 27 Apr 1732 in Wallingford.
Benjamin and Elizabeth had nine children (Andrew, Mary, Elizabeth, Damerus, John, Abigail, Samuel, Sarah, Benjamin), of whom we list two:

a22. Mary Hull was born 31 Aug 1696 in Wallingford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died about 1735. She married Ebenezer Bronson [SPENCER 5632.7.5.7], son of Isaac Bronson and Mary Root. Ebenezer was born 7 Apr 1689 in Waterbury (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 11 Apr 1768 in Waterbury.

a3. Jeremiah Hull was born 28 Sep 1679 in Derby (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 11 May 1736 in Wallingford (New Haven) Connecticut. He married Hannah Cook.
Jeremiah and Hannah probably had several children, of whom we list one:
