Other Families Allied to Ours

These pages are a compilation of my work and that of others. You are welcome to use anything on this page, but be aware that although I have been as careful and accurate as possible, I am not a professional genealogist. I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. This page is different from most: this family is not directly related to us, but is allied through frequent marriages.   HOME

Hale Family Connections

These Hale members are not directly related to us. I include this partial descent list due to the frequent intermarriage with both sides of our family. I have left out most of the children, including only those who married into our lines.

We do have a direct Hale line through Rita’s mother (56 Ozias Hale), but we have only pushed this back as far as 1800 New York. It is one of my many continuing obsessions to tie them in with one of these early colonial Hale families.

We have two main Hale families, apparently unrelated, who connect with ours. One settled in Massachusetts, and one in Connecticut.

UNCONNECTED HALE LINES

A few stray Hales that we cannot connect to any other lines. These are all on Bill’s side.

Reuben Hale was born about 1740. He is the son of Samuel Hale (1695 MA- ) and Judith Hodge (1697 CT- ), grandson of Gershom Hale (1647 MA - 1717 MA) and Ann Venton, and appears to be unconnected with either of the above Hale groups at least back to 1600. He married 29 Aug 1759 in Oxford (New Haven) Connecticut, Diantha Ward [BEAHM 7822.6.9.1], daughter of Arah Ward and Phebe Towner.

Ruth Hale was born 3 Oct 1773, the daughter of Zebulon Hale and Rachel Bishop. We haven't found anything on Zebulon's parents. Ruth married Luman Blatchley [BEAHM 976.8], son of Daniel Blatchley and Lydia Meigs.

William Hale was born 18 Feb 1687 in Hadley, Massachusetts, and died sometime before 1759. He is the son of Thomas Hale (1651-1725) and Priscilla Markham, but the parents of Thomas are disputed. William married about 1723 in Connecticut, Mary Colt [BEAHM 31338.1.6.2], daughter of Abraham Colt and Hannah Loomis.
