These pages are a compilation of my work and that of others. You are welcome to use anything on this page, but be aware that although I have been as careful and accurate as possible, I am not a professional genealogist. I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. Jonas DeLange and Blandina Peerson

748. Jonas DeLange was born about 1696 in Ulster County New York, and died in 1739 in Poughkeepsie (Dutchess) New York. He is a son of Adrianus DeLange [1496] and Rachel Peer [1497]. Jonas married 15 Nov 1716 in New York,

749. Blandina Peerson. Blandina was born about 1696 in New York and died in 1765 in Dutchess County New York. She is a daughter of Rondena Peerson [1498].

Jonas was baptized 12 Jan 1695/96 in Kingston (Ulster) New York. His religion is unknown, probably Dutch Reformed.

The children are mostly seen as DeLong, so Jonas probably had changed the spelling of his name at some point. Both DeLong and DeLange are used.

748.1. Arie DeLong [374] (1719 NY - 1798 NY) and Rachel Ferguson are direct ancestors, separate page.

748.2. Jacobus DeLong was born in 1721 in Ulster Co, New York (baptized 6 Aug 1721 in Kingston (Ulster) New York). He married Elizabeth Scherer.

748.4. Maria DeLong was born in 1726 in Ulster Co, New York (baptized 28 Aug 1726 in Kingston (Ulster) New York).

748.5. Johannes DeLong (1728 NY - 1804 NY) had descendants and is expanded below.

748.3. Annetje DeLong was born Feb 1724 in Ulster Co, New York. Annetje (called Anna DeLong) was baptized 12 Apr 1724 in Kingston (Ulster) New York. She married 7 Aug 1743 in Fishkill (Dutchess) New York, Johannes Emigh, son of Johan Emigh and Anna Mueller. Johannes was born on 7 Apr 1717 in Kingston (Ulster) New York, and died 24 May 1801 in Saratoga Co, New York. The name appears to have originally been Eighme, from Palatine Germany, and is corrupted to Emigh, Emich and Amey.
Annetje and Johannes had nine children (first cousins to us):

748.3.1. Catherine Emigh was born 14 Apr 1744 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died about 1806. She married Peter Lane. Peter was born about 1740 and died 19 Jul 1777. He is said to have served in the Revolutionary War (Loyalist) in Capt Jonathan Jones' Company under Lt Col Ebenezer Jessup. He died in the War.
Catherine and Peter had one child that we know of, there may be others (second cousin to us):

748.3.1.1. Elizabeth Lane was born about 1765 in New York. She married Elias Emigh, son of Philip Emigh and Gertrud Lassig. Elias was born about 1756 in Dutchess Co, New York. Elizabeth and Elias are first cousins once removed through Emigh, outside our lines.

748.3.2. Blandina Emigh was born 14 Jul 1745 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 25 Nov 1836 in Ontario, Canada.

748.3.3. John Emigh was born in 1747 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died in Ontario, Canada. He married Evah Stover, daughter of Jacob. Evah was born in 1751. John changed his name to Amey at some point -- the children are usually seen with that spelling, though both forms are seen.
We don't know when the family moved to Canada, but judging from other family members I would guess they were Loyalists and left after the Revolution.
John and Evah had nine children (second cousins to us):

748.3.3.1. Rachel Amey was born probably sometime around 1770. She married 18 Nov 1788 in Ontario, Canada, Abraham Snyder, son of Simon Snyder and Mary Ann Lane. Abraham was born in 1758.

748.3.3.2. Evah Amey was born probably sometime around 1770. She married in Feb 1788, Christian Abrahams.

748.3.3.4. Israel Amey was born 6 Jul 1781. He married Elizabeth Thomas. Elizabeth was born in 1790.

748.3.3.5. Joseph Amey was born 15 May 1783, and died in 1867 in Ontario, Canada. He married 13 Feb 1810 in Ernest Town (Ontario) Canada, Elizabeth Shibley. Elizabeth was born 7 Jan 1788 in Ernest Town (Ontario) Canada, and died 20 Sep 1868.

748.3.3.6. David Amey was born in 1785. He married 5 Apr 1811 in Ernest Town (Ontario) Canada, Hannah Boice. They were married in the Dutch Reformed Church (Presbyterian).

748.3.3.7. Sarah Amey was born in 1786. She married 14 Nov 1811 in Ernest Town (Ontario) Canada, Theophilus Lockwood.

748.3.3.9. Hannah Amey was born in 1789. She married David Boyce, son of Andrew Boice and Elizabeth Hartman.

748.3.4. Nicholas Emigh was born 1 Dec 1748 in Dutchess Co, New York. He married Margaret Stover. Margaret was born in 1749 in Dutchess Co, New York. Nicholas served in the Revolutionary War (Loyalist).
Nicholas and Margaret had eleven children (second cousins to us):

748.3.4.1. Elizabeth Emigh was born in 1770, and died in 1846. She married John Snyder, son of Simon Snyder and Mary Ann Lane. John was born 23 Jan 1764 in New York, and died in 1842. John's brother Abraham married Elizabeth's cousin 748.3.3.1 Rachel Amey.

748.3.5. Mary Emigh was born about 1750 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 13 Apr 1827 in Rensselaer County, New York. She married Michael Overacker, son of Jurry Overacker and Maria Magdelena ___. Michael was born about 1750 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 4 Aug 1826 in Rensselaer County, New York.
Mary and Michael had ten children (second cousins to us):

748.3.5.1. Cornelia Overacker was born in 1773 in Rensselaer Co, New York, and died 23 Jun 1839 in Rensselaer County.

748.3.5.3. Catherine Overacker was born in 1775 in Rensselaer Co, New York, and died 1 Jan 1841 in Rensselaer County.

748.3.5.5. John Overacker was born 20 Aug 1780 in Rensselaer Co, New York, and died about 1845 in Saratoga Co, New York.

748.3.5.7. Margaretha Overacker was born 17 Mar 1786 in Rensselaer Co, New York.

748.3.5.8. Jacob Overacker was born 12 Jan 1788 in Rensselaer Co, New York, and died in 1856 in Orleans Co, New York.

748.3.6. Elizabeth Emigh was born about 1752 in Dutchess Co, New York. She married Michael Erring.

748.3.7. Cornelia Emigh was born 15 Sep 1755 in Dutchess Co, New York. She married Francis Fritts.

748.3.8. Rachel Emigh was born in 1758 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died sometime after 1801. She married Richard Vincent.

748.3.9. Joseph Emigh was born about 1761 in Dutchess Co, New York. He married Charity ___.

748.5. Johannes DeLong was born 22 Sep 1728 in Kingston (Ulster) New York. He married 30 Dec 1759 in Poughkeepsie (Dutchess) New York, Anna Maria Brill, daughter of Dewald Brill and Catherine Beck. Anna was born May 1737 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York.
Johannes and Anna had six children (first cousins to us):

748.5.1. Catherine DeLong was born 15 May 1763 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York, and died 12 Apr 1832 in Oxford Co (Ontario) Canada. She married first, John McAuley. John was born about 1760 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York, and died about 1785 in New York.
Catherine and John had one child (second cousin to us):

Catherine then had a child out of wedlock with Peter Vanderburgh. Peter was born 3 Feb 1763 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York, and died about 1845 in Greenport (Columbia) New York. According to one web site, Peter was sued by Catherine for getting her pregnant and not marrying her (filed 16 Jan 1788 in Dutchess County).

748.5.1.2. Clyamon Vanderburgh was born 15 Sep 1787 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York, and died 27 Aug 1859 in Dubuque Co, Iowa. He married on 2 Mar 1812 in Ontario, Canada, Roxanne Mitchell. Roxanne was born 19 Jun 1789 in Ontario, Canada, and died 6 Mar 1841 in Michigan.

Catherine married second, Henry Hulet.
Catherine and Henry had one child (second cousin to us):

748.5.1.4. Ethalinda Lossing was born 15 Oct 1806 in Dutchess County, New York, and died in 1889. She married David D. Wilson.

748.5.2. Elizabeth DeLong was born about 1764 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 11 Oct 1793. She married in 1790, Thomas Dorland, son of Samuel Dorland and Anna Esmond. Thomas was born 17 Apr 1759 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York, and died 6 Feb 1832 in Lennox & Addington Co (Ontario) Canada. He had two children from a previous marriage to Tabitha Pugsley.
Elizabeth and Thomas had one child (second cousin to us):

748.5.2.1. Peter Dorland was born 25 Jul 1791 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York. He married Eleanor Church.

748.5.3. Blandina DeLong was born 7 Dec 1765 in Hopewell, New York., and died 8 Aug 1852 in Newark, New Jersey. She married Stephen Vanderburgh. Stephen was born 4 Jan 1765 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York, and died 7 Sep 1788 in Clinton (Middlesex) Connecticut. He was Dutch Reformed.
Blandina and Stephen had two children (second cousins to us):

748.5.4. Eleanor DeLong was born about 1770 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died about 1793 in Adolphustown (Ontario) Canada. She married James Noxon. James was born 8 Apr 1765 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York, and died 28 Aug 1842 in Toronto (Ontario) Canada.
Eleanor and James had one child (second cousin to us):

748.5.4.1. Maria Noxon was born 12 Jan 1791 in Ontario, Canada, and died 21 Oct 1824 in Hillier Twp (Ontario) Canada. She married John Haight. John was born 25 Nov 1791 in Adolphustown (Ontario) Canada.

748.5.5. David DeLong was born in 1771 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died about 1864 in Oxford Co (Ontario) Canada. He married Charlotte ___.
David and Charlotte had two children that we know of, there were probably others (second cousins to us):

748.5.5.1. Jane DeLong was born in 1809. She married Walter Capron, son of Joseph Capron and Roxanne Woodward. Walter was born on 17 Oct 1808 in Vermont.

748.5.5.2. William DeLong was born about 1821 in Ontario, Canada, and died sometime before 1871. He married 22 Jan 1846 in Oxford Co (Ontario) Canada, Henrietta Siple. Henrietta was born about 1827 in Ontario, Canada.

748.5.6. Peter DeLong was born 8 Jan 1777 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 26 Jun 1839 in Oxford Co (Ontario) Canada. He married Lois Bleach. Lois was born Dec 1784, and died 12 Mar 1818 in Dutchess Co, New York.
Peter and Lois had eight children (second cousins to us):

748.5.6.1. Adeline DeLong was born 6 Nov 1801 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 27 Sep 1884 in Norwich (Ontario) Canada. She married Joseph Throckmorton. Joseph was born 3 Mar 1788 on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

748.5.6.2. Elizabeth DeLong was born 26 Oct 1802 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 11 Oct 1826. She married Harry Austin.

748.5.6.3. John DeLong was born 30 Nov 1805 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 11 Nov 1826.

748.5.6.4. Gordon DeLong was born about 1806 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died in 1877 in Fresno, California. He married in 1830, Marietta Moses.

748.5.6.5. Stephen DeLong was born about 1810 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died sometime after 1875. He married Julianne McNeal. Julianne was born 21 Jan 1813.

748.5.6.6. Garry DeLong was born 2 Nov 1811 in Ontario, Canada, and died sometime after 1876. He married Mary Esmond. Mary was born on 7 Dec 1813.

748.5.6.7. Margaret DeLong was born in 1813 in Ontario, Canada, and died 24 Aug 1900. She married Isaac D. Titus.

748.5.6.8. William DeLong was born 14 Sep 1815 in Norwich (Ontario) Canada, and died 16 Mar 1897 in Norwich. He married in 1841 in Ontario, Adeline Town. Adeline was born 10 Dec 1821 in Norwich (Ontario) Canada.

748.6. Catherine DeLong was born probably sometime in the 1720's in Kingston (Ulster) New York. She married in 1756, James Cleveland (also seen as James Clayland).
Catherine and James had nine children (first cousins to us):

748.6.1. William Cleveland was born about 1757. He married Elizabeth Lohnes. Elizabeth was born in 1758.
William and Elizabeth had five children (second cousins to us):

748.6.1.1. James Cleveland was born 3 Feb 1793 in Brunswick (Rensselaer) New York.

748.6.1.2. John Cleveland was born 11 Oct 1794 in Brunswick (Rensselaer) New York.

748.6.1.3. Margaretha Cleveland was born 23 Nov 1795 in Brunswick (Rensselaer) New York.

748.6.1.4. Catharina Cleveland was born 2 Jun 1797 in Brunswick (Rensselaer) New York.

748.6.1.5. Magdalena Cleveland was born 17 Jun 1799 in Brunswick (Rensselaer) New York, and died 13 May 1862 in Rensselaer County. She married her cousin David Lohnes, son of Andreas Lohnes and Anna Bornt. David was born 17 Jun 1795 in Brunswick (Rensselaer) New York. David and Magdalena are first cousins through Lohnes, outside our lines.
