These pages are a compilation of my work and that of others. You are welcome to use anything on this page, but be aware that although I have been as careful and accurate as possible, I am not a professional genealogist. I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. For the most part I have limited my scope to their great-grandchildren (second cousins to us); in some cases I list sources which may continue further.		HOME

746. Thomas Ketcham was born about 1710 in Huntington (Suffolk) New York, and died in 1760 in Dutchess Co, New York. He is a son of Thomas Ketcham [1492] and Rebecca Sherman [1493]. Thomas married 3 Jan 1742/43 in Huntington,

746.5. Pamela Ketcham was born probably in the 1750’s in Huntington (Suffolk) New York.

746.6. Mary Ketcham was born probably in the 1750’s in Huntington (Suffolk) New York.

746.3. Thomas Ketcham was born 8 Feb 1748 in Huntington (Suffolk) New York, and died 10 May 1834 in Sudbury (Rutland) Vermont. He married 4 Feb 1769 at what was called Nine Partners (Amenia) New York, Mary Doughty, daughter of William Doughty (1710-) and Margaret ___. Mary was born 7 Sep 1749 in Whitestone (Queens) New York, and died 19 Jan 1834 in Sudbury (Rutland) Vermont. They moved to Vermont around 1790.
Thomas and Mary had eleven children (first cousins to us). Note, Nine Partners was a land grant area; our people were near what is now Amenia:

746.3.1. Rebecca M. Ketcham was born 24 Jun 1770 in Nine Partners (Amenia) New York, and died 19 Apr 1802. She married Levi Vincent.

746.3.2. Phebe Ketcham was born 24 Jun 1772 in Nine Partners (Amenia) New York, and died 13 Aug 1844.

746.3.3. William Ketcham was born 23 Dec 1774 in Nine Partners (Amenia) New York, and died 13 Aug 1855. He married Millicent Wood.

746.3.4. Thomas Ketcham was born 24 Jan 1776 in Nine Partners (Amenia) New York, and died 27 Jan 1835 in Sudbury (Rutland) Vermont. He married in Mar 1804, Sylvia Churchill.

746.3.4.4. Sally Ann Ketcham was born 11 Mar 1811 probably in Vermont. She married James Wells.

746.3.4.5. Roxanna C. Ketcham was born 6 Feb 1814 in Sudbury (Rutland) Vermont, and died 8 Jan 1902 in Sudbury. She married Paul Spooner, son of Paul Spooner (1767-1842) and Deborah White (1771-1844). Paul was born 17 Sep 1803 in Brandon (Addison) Vermont, and died 22 Apr 1885 in Sudbury (Rutland) Vermont. He is a distant cousin to several people in Bill’s family.

746.3.4.6. Eliza A. Ketcham was born 4 Apr 1816 probably in Vermont, and died 29 Aug 1846.

746.3.4.7. Sylvia Ketcham was born 3 Oct 1818 probably in Vermont. She married Seneca Root.

746.3.4.8. Thomas J. Ketcham was born 12 Apr 1821 probably in Vermont. He married Mary Slason, and Alvira Bogue, dates and order unknown.

746.3.4.9. Lucy A. Ketcham was born 18 Aug 1823 probably in Vermont. She married Abram Shear.

746.3.5. Barnard Ketcham was born 2 Mar 1778 in Nine Partners (Amenia) New York, and died 3 Mar 1856. He married Mary Jackson, daughter of Aaron Jackson (1758 MA - 1802 VT) and Mary Dewing (1756 - 1812). Mary was born 30 Jun 1786.

746.3.5.3. Mary Ketcham was born probably sometime around 1810. She married Royal Waller.

746.3.5.5. Andrew Jackson Ketcham was born 8 Oct 1814, and died 8 May 1899. He married Adeline Buckmaster, daughter of John Buckmaster and Amanda ___. Adeline (called Addie) was born 17 Jun 1820 in Shrewsbury, Vermont. They had six children.

746.3.5.6. Caroline Ketcham was born 7 Jan 1818, and died 7 Sep 1901. She married George Kidder.

746.3.5.8. Angeline Ketcham was born 7 Aug 1823, and died 9 Jun 1902. She married her second cousin Phenner Vail [372.6.6], son of Elias Vail and Hannah Duncan. Phenner was born in 1810 and died 6 Oct 1875.
Angeline and Phenner had one child that we know of, listed under Phenner.

746.3.6. Elias Ketcham was born 2 May 1780 in Nine Partners (Amenia) New York, and died 14 Jun 1854 in Sudbury (Rutland) Vermont. He married Orpha Murray, daughter of Stephen Murray.
Elias and Orpha had ten children (second cousins to us):

746.3.6.1. Rebecca Ketcham was born 22 Apr 1814, and died 29 Jan 1894. She married George S. Smith.

746.3.6.2. Leonora Ketcham was born 2 Mar 1816, and died 19 Jul 1882. She married John Holley.

746.3.6.3. Myrtle Ketcham was born 12 Sep 1817, and died 2 Oct 1861. He married Julia Haley.

746.3.6.4. Oliver D. Ketcham was born 2 Oct 1818, and died 5 Feb 1893 in Minnesota. He married Marietta Gleason.

746.3.6.5. Louisa M. Ketcham was born 8 Oct 1821, and died 2 Mar 1900 in Vermont. She married Benjamin G. Merritt.

746.3.6.6. Stephen M. Ketcham was born 15 Aug 1823, and died 5 Oct 1882. He married Jane Stacey.

746.3.6.8. Laura Ann Ketcham was born 13 Jan 1827, and died 20 Jul 1903. She married Asahel Cool.

746.3.6.10. Charles Maurice Ketcham was born 28 Dec 1831, and died 28 Oct 1910. He married Lodouiska Smith.

746.3.7. Pamela Ketcham was born 3 Sep 1782 probably in New York, and died 7 Mar 1858.

746.3.8. Ruth Ketcham was born 9 Nov 1784 probably in New York, and died 13 Jun 1834.

746.3.9. Mary Ketcham was born 17 Jan 1787, and died 30 Aug 1883. She married Benjamin Knowlton.

746.3.10. Isaac Ketcham was born 14 Feb 1789, and died 21 Nov 1856. He married 1 Feb 1815, Polly Sutherland.
Isaac and Polly had nine children (second cousins to us):

746.3.10.1. Mahalia Ketcham was born 26 Dec 1815, and died 12 Sep 1878. She married Carlos Kelsey Smith [5632.7.1.1.5.6.5.5], son of Clark Edward Smith and Lois Kelsey. Carlos is a sixth cousin to both Rita’s and Bill’s sides of the family, as his mother is [BEAHM 7838.1.1.5.2.1.4].

746.3.10.4. Oliver Hazard Ketcham was born 8 Apr 1822, and died 3 Jan 1892. He married first, in 1848, Dorleska Balis. Dorleska was born about 1825 and died sometime before 1858. Oliver married second, in 1859, Mary Sanderson.

746.3.10.5. Harriet Antoinette Ketcham was born 18 Jun 1824, and died 30 Nov 1903. She married Levi Foster.

746.3.10.6. Benjamin Franklin Ketcham was born 4 Feb 1827, and died 21 Dec 1897. He married Mary Naomi Miller.
Benjamin was a physician. He served in the Civil War as an officer, commissioned 19 Sep 1862 as Regimental Surgeon, 12th Vermont Infantry. His enlistment papers say he came from Manchester, Vermont.

746.3.10.8. Margaret Ketcham was born 2 May 1832, and died 20 Feb 1908. She married Henry C. Balis.

746.3.10.9. Martin van Buren Ketcham was born 29 Nov 1836, and died 18 Mar 1863. Martin served in the Civil War, as a private in Co. G, 12th Vermont Infantry, from 16 Aug 1862 to 18 Mar 1863. He died during the war from disease. His enlistment papers say he is from Sudbury, Vermont.

746.4. Isaac Ketcham was born in 1754 in Huntington (Suffolk) New York, and died 14 Feb 1824 in Lenawee Co, Michigan. He married about 1775, Rebecca Haff. They moved to Poughkeepsie NY sometime before 1796, then to Ithaca NY about 1817. Birth dates and order of their last four children are unknown.

746.4.1. Jacob Ketcham was born 7 Jul 1778 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 22 May 1852 in Lenawee Co, Michigan. He married Anne Holmes. They moved to Michigan about 1824. Jacob was an innkeeper.

746.4.1.2. Isaac H. Ketcham was born 16 May 1804 in New York, and died in 1855 in Minnesota. He married Gertrude Timmerman.

746.4.1.3. Mella Ann Ketcham was born 20 Jan 1808 in New York. She married about 1830, Joseph W. Gray.

746.4.1.4. George W. Ketcham was born 10 Mar 1811 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 31 Jan 1875 in Michigan. He married three times, dates unknown: Sarah M. King, Arminda Conkling, and Louisa Webb.

746.4.1.5. Phebe Ketcham was born 24 Nov 1814 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 28 Oct 1890 in Michigan. She married Charles W. Williamson.

746.4.1.6. Maria Ketcham was born 18 Mar 1817 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 25 Jun 1884 in Michigan. She married Horace Brewer.

746.4.1.7. John Clark Ketcham was born 9 Mar 1822 in Ithaca, New York, and died 7 Feb 1895 in Michigan. He married Julia Dunks, and Mary Davis, dates unknown.

746.4.2. Sarah Ketcham (also seen as Hannah Ketcham) was born in 1779 in Dutchess Co, New York.

746.4.5. Platt Ketcham was born in 1789 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 18 Aug 1825 in Tompkins Co, New York. He married 29 Mar 1820 in Ulysses (Tompkins) New York, Julia Ann McHain.

746.4.6. Isaac Ketcham was born 29 May 1796 in Dutchess Co, New York. He was an Ordained Minister, Reformed Church of Poughkeepsie.

746.4.7. Thomas Ketcham was born probably sometime in the 1780’s or 1790’s in Dutchess Co, New York.

746.4.8. Phoebe Ketcham was born probably sometime in the 1780’s or 1790’s in Dutchess Co, New York.

746.4.9. Catherine Ketcham was born probably sometime in the 1780’s or 1790’s in Dutchess Co, New York.

746.4.10. Mary Ketcham was born probably sometime in the 1780’s or 1790’s in Dutchess Co, New York.

746.7. Deborah Ketcham was born about 1759 in Huntington (Suffolk) New York. She married 28 Oct 1781 in New York, David Sammis [BEAHM 7808.1.9.1.1.1], son of Job Sammis (1724-1792) and Elizabeth Kellum. David was born 21 Apr 1766 in Huntington (Suffolk) New York.
Deborah and David had one child that we know of, there may be others (first cousin to Rita’s side and fifth cousin to Bill’s side):

747.7.1. Mary Sammis was born in 1788. She married Smith Muncy, son of Silas Muncy (1743 NY - 1814 NY) and Deborah Wood (~1745 - 1789). Smith was born 12 Sep 1777 in Babylon (Suffolk) New York, and died in 1825.
Mary and Smith had five children (second cousins to Rita’s side, also sixth cousins to Bill’s side):

747.7.1.1. Frances Muncy was born in 1817 in Babylon (Suffolk) New York, and died in 1905 in Babylon.

747.7.1.2. William Muncy was born 25 Dec 1818 in Babylon (Suffolk) New York, and died 7 Feb 1915 in West Babylon. He married 13 Jan 1850 in New York, Marietta Fleet, daughter of Treadwell Fleet (1797 - 1871) and Hannah Seaman. Marietta was born 10 May 1826 in Babylon (Suffolk) New York, and died 20 Mar 1883 in Babylon.

747.7.1.3. Samuel Muncy was born 25 Dec 1818 in Babylon (Suffolk) New York, and died 19 Apr 1914 in West Babylon. He married 8 Jan 1847, Rebecca Sammis, daughter of Ezra Sammis and Phoebe ___.

747.7.1.4. Jesse Muncy was born in 1820 in Babylon (Suffolk) New York, and died in 1899.
