| These pages are a compilation of my work and that of others. You are welcome to use anything on this page, but be aware that although I have been as careful and accurate as possible, I am not a professional genealogist. I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. 710. Francis Brocklebank was born 4 Dec 1694 in Rowley (Essex) Massachusetts, and died 21 Sep 1746 in Rowley. He is a son of Samuel Brocklebank [1420] and Elizabeth Platts [1421]. Francis married about 1719 (marriage intent filed 25 Jul 1719 in Rowley),
711. Mary Cheney. Mary was born 14 Nov 1701 in Newbury (Essex) Massachusetts, and died 6 Jan 1755 in Lancaster (Worcester) Massachusetts. She is a daughter of John Cheney [1422] and Mary Chute [1423].
Francis and Mary had ten children, most of whom died young:
710.1. Samuel Brocklebank was born 19 Oct 1724 in Rowley (Essex) Massachusetts, and died in childhood, sometime before 1733.
710.2. Elizabeth Brocklebank (1726 MA - 1801) had descendants and is listed below.
710.3. Mary Brocklebank was born 16 Oct 1728 in Rowley (Essex) Massachusetts. She married
13 May 1746, Job Spofford, son of Jonathan Spofford (1684-1772) and Jemima Freethy.
Job was born 21 Dec 1726 in Georgetown (Essex) Massachusetts.
Mary and Job had one child that we know of, there were probably others (first cousin to us):
710.3.1. Hannah Spofford was born 4 Oct 1747 in Georgetown (Essex) Massachusetts.
710.4. Francis Brocklebank about 1731 in Rowley (Essex) Massachusetts, and died 27 Jun 1736 in Rowley, age 5.
710.5. Samuel Brocklebank was born 4 Jul 1733 in Rowley (Essex) Massachusetts, and died 23 Jun 1736 in Rowley, age 2.
710.6. Moses Brocklebank was born 29 Jul 1735 in Rowley (Essex) Massachusetts, and died 27 Jun 1736 in Rowley, age 11 months.
710.7. Martha Brocklebank [355] (1737 MA - 1810 MA) and Samuel Burpee are direct ancestors, separate page.
710.8. Hannah Brocklebank was born 24 Mar 1739 in Rowley (Essex) Massachusetts, and died 22 Oct 1745 in Rowley, age 6.
710.9. Moses Brocklebank was born 19 Jul 1741 in Rowley (Essex) Massachusetts, and died 28 Aug 1745 in Rowley, age 4.
710.10. Eunice Brocklebank was born 27 Jun 1743 in Rowley (Essex) Massachusetts.
710.2. Elizabeth Brocklebank {a} was born 28 Jul 1726 in Rowley (Essex) Massachusetts, and died in 1801.
She married 5 Nov 1747, Jeremiah Burpee [1416.5.2], son of Ebenezer Burpee (1697-1771)
and Miriam Pearson (1695-1782). Jeremiah was born 10 Sep 1724 in Rowley (Essex) Massachusetts. The web sources I saw give a
date of death as 17 Oct 1822 for both Jeremiah and his son Jeremiah, one is probably incorrect. They moved to Lancaster,
Massachusetts soon after they were married, joining Crocksett Church there in Oct 1748. They appear in the 1790 census, living in Sterling Massachusetts. Three of their children died in late summer 1756; there was a smallpox epidemic in America at that time.
Elizabeth and Jeremiah had nine children (first cousins to us):
710.2.1. Molly Burpee {a} was born about Oct 1748 (baptized 6 Nov 1748) probably in Lancaster (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 6 Sep 1756.
710.2.2. Moses Burpee {a} was born 11 Aug 1750 probably in Lancaster (Worcester) Massachusetts.
710.2.3. Ebenezer Burpee {a} was born about Oct 1752 (baptized 15 Oct 1752) probably in Lancaster (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died shortly after birth.
710.2.4. Ebenezer Burpee {a} was born 9 Sep 1753 probably in Lancaster (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 31 Aug 1756.
710.2.5. Jeremiah Burpee {a} was born 11 Oct 1755 (baptized 12 Oct 1755) probably in Lancaster (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 2 Sep 1756.
710.2.6. Ebenezer Burpee {a} was born 9 Jan 1758 (baptized 29 Jan 1758) probably in Lancaster (Worcester) Massachusetts. He was living in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts in 1790.
710.2.7. Jeremiah Burpee {a} was born about Nov 1760 (baptized 16 Nov 1760) probably in Lancaster (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died sometime before 1770.
710.2.8. Elizabeth Burpee {a} was born probably about Oct 1763. There is a mistake in the church records, as they show her baptism as 16 Oct, and her birth three days later on 19 Oct.
710.2.9. Jeremiah Burpee {a} was born 15 Nov 1770 in Rowley (Essex) Massachusetts. He married 12 Feb 1787,
Mary Kendall (called Molly Kendall), daughter of Herman Kendall and Mary Fairbanks. Mary was born about 1768, and died in 1801.
Jeremiah and Mary had six children (second cousins to us):
710.2.9.1. Jonathan Burpee was born 17 Apr 1787 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts.
710.2.9.2. Silas Burpee was born 31 Jan 1789 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 10 Jul 1857 in Ontario, Canada. He married on 29 May 1812 in Fletcher (Franklin) Vermont, Elizabeth Roode, daughter of Briggs Roode and Elizabeth Belcher. Elizabeth was born about 1792 and died 31 Dec 1866 in Ottawa (Ontario) Canada.
710.2.9.3. Polly Burpee was born 18 Mar 1791 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died sometime after 1833. She married 1 Sep 1811 in Sterling, Peter Ross, son of William Ross and Tamar Johnson. Peter was born 23 Sep 1783 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts.
710.2.9.4. Herman Burpee was born 14 Jan 1793 in Lancaster (Worcester) Massachusetts. Herman (also seen as Heman Burpee) married on 16 Apr 1815 in Grafton (Worcester) Massachusetts, Satira Redding.
710.2.9.5. Abel Burpee was born 30 Nov 1795 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts.
710.2.9.6. Elizabeth Burpee was born 2 Dec 1799 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts.
