Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. 373. Lavinia Rebecca Ketcham. Lavinia was born in 1745 in Huntington (Suffolk) New York, and died 1 Mar 1803 in Union Vale (Dutchess) New York. She is a daughter of 746 Thomas Ketcham and Rebecca

Isaac served in the Revolutionary War, a member of the militia in New York. He signed the “Association Test”, a statement that he supported the Revolution.

She married in 1780 in Dutchess County, Gilbert Vincent, son of Leonard Vincent (1725-1801) and Elizabeth Williams. Gilbert was born 21 Feb 1756, and died 26 Mar 1842 in Verbank (Dutchess) New York.

372.2.10. Michael Vincent was born 17 Aug 1798 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York, and died Jun 1885 in Clark Co, Wisconsin. He married his cousin Elizabeth Cary, daughter of Nathaniel Cary (1800-1859) and Ann Vincent (1798-1872). Elizabeth is not related to our lines, but she is Michael's first cousin once removed, both being descended from Leonard Vincent and Elizabeth Williams. She was born in Oct 1826, and died sometime after 1900 in Wisconsin. They moved from New York to Wisconsin in the early 1850's.

372.4. Rebecca Vail was born 9 Jul 1770 in Union Vale Twp (Dutchess) New York, and died in 1840 in Broome Co, New York. She married in 1789 in New York, Thomas White, son of Abner White (~1725-) and Ruth Brownell (~1727-1806).
Their children are Mayflower descendants through three lines (White, Cooke and Warren) and are distant cousins to some of Bill’s side of the family. Thomas was a farmer, and also worked in real estate.

George was born 26 Jan 1787 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York, and died in Beekman.

372.4.1.2. Phebe Ann Cornwell was born 30 Oct 1812 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York, and died 11 Mar 1889 in Auburn (Cayuga) New York. She married Carey Burtis, son of Thomas Burtis and Nancy Cornwell. Carey was born in 1809. They are first cousins, both being grandchildren of Richard Cornwell.

372.4.2. Isaac Vail White was born 1 Apr 1793 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 18 Jan 1883 in Binghamton (Broome) New York. He married Mary Bedell Horton. Mary was born 20 Mar 1802 in Westchester Co, New York, and died 15 Apr 1884. They were farmers.

372.4.2.4. Thomas H. White was born about 1826 in Salem (Washington) New York. He married 23 May 1858, his second cousin Catherine VanBenschoten [372.5.7.5], daughter of Tunis VanBenschoten and Lavina Vail.

372.4.2.5. Mary Rebecca White was born 5 Aug 1828 in Salem (Washington) New York, and died 2 Dec 1903 in Wyoming (Jones) Iowa. She married Park Chamberlain. Park was born 3 Sep 1818 in Broome Co, New York, and died 7 Mar 1884 in Wyoming (Jones) Iowa. They lived in Binghamton (Broome) New York after their marriage, then moved to Wyoming (Jones) Iowa about mid-1860's. They had twelve children.

372.4.2.6. Lavinia White was born about 1830 in New York, and died sometime before 1834 in New York.

372.4.2.7. Benjamin Horton White was born 18 Aug 1838 in New York, and died 17 Mar 1904 in Clarenden (Donley) Texas. He married Charlotte Ophelia Carhart. Charlotte was born Mar 1850 in New York, and died sometime after 1900 in Texas. They had seven children, born in Iowa and Texas.

372.4.2.8. Jesse I. White was born about 1840 in New York, and died sometime around 1890 in Nevada.

372.4.2.9. Josephine White was born 18 Aug 1843 in Binghamton (Broome) New York, and died in 1932 in Binghamton. She married Richard W. Lester. Richard was born about 1844 in Connecticut, and died sometime before 1900 probably in New York. He was a shoe maker and merchant. Josephine and Richard had five children, born in New York.

372.4.2.10. Frances E. White was born Jun 1847 in Binghamton (Broome) New York, and died sometime before 1905 in Berkeley (Alameda) California. She married Ambrose Eggleston. Ambrose was born Sep 1844 in New York, and died Mar 1919 in California. He was a sewing machine manufacturer and merchant. They moved to California about 1880. Frances and Ambrose had five children, born in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and California.

372.4.2.11. Emroy White was born May 1850 in Binghamton (Broome) New York, and died sometime after 1900 in Iowa.

372.4.3. Lavina White was born 10 Sep 1795 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died 16 Jul 1830. She married Alfred S. Lyon. Alfred was born on 8 Jun 1793.

372.4.6.3. John Addison Lyon was born 6 Jul 1827 in New York, and died 27 Apr 1894. He married Henrietta Hooper. Henrietta was born on 11 Aug 1834, and died 26 May 1885 in Binghamton (Broome) New York.

372.4.6.4. Hepsabeth Lyon was born 22 Apr 1829 in New York, and died Jan 1830, age 8 months.

372.4.6.5. Sarah Rebecca Lyon was born 19 Aug 1831 in New York, and died in 1888. She married first, Spencer Buckingham. They had one child, born 1857. Sarah married second, Herman Graves.

372.4.6.6. Mary Lavina Lyon was born 25 Aug 1833 in New York. She married in 1855, Henry Hooper.

372.4.6.7. George Alfred Lyon was born 13 Nov 1834 in New York, and died in 1914 in St. Charles (Winona) Minnesota.

372.4.6.8. James Walter Lyon was born 5 Sep 1838 in New York, and died 5 Jan 1913. He married Mary Kernan. Mary was born 18 Oct 1858 in Dorchester (Suffolk) Massachusetts.

372.4.6.9. Moses Vail Lyon was born 30 Sep 1839 in New York, and died in 1875 in Idaho.

372.4.6.10. Tamar Parmelia Lyon was born 23 Dec 1842 in New York. She married Festus Confucius Baily. Festus was born 21 Aug 1837 in Putnam Co, New York.

372.4.6.12. Eugenia Ann Lyon was born 10 May 1846 in New York, and died 30 May 1903. (Name uncertain, some have her as Eugenia Harris Lyon.) She married Charles A. Givens.

372.4.7. Hepsabeth White was born sometime around 1805 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died in infancy.

372.4.8. James White was born 25 May 1820 in Dutchess Co, New York, and died in Brewster Co, New York. He is buried in Dutchess County. James married in 1846, Lucy C. McKenney.

372.4.9. Moses White was born sometime in the 1790's in Dutchess Co, New York, and died in 1814. Moses served in the War of 1812. He never returned home, and is presumed to have been killed in the war.

372.5. Moses Vail was born 18 Oct 1772 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York, and died 20 Jun 1817 in Verbank (Dutchess) New York. He married about 1792 in New York, Phebe Losee, daughter of John Losee. Phebe was born 16 Mar 1773, and died 27 Dec 1848 in Verbank (Dutchess) New York. Moses was a farmer and a weaver.
Moses and Phebe had twelve children (first cousins to us):

372.5.1. James Vail was born 13 Oct 1793 in Beekman (Dutchess) New York, and died 1 Feb 1840 in La Grange (Dutchess) New York. He married Ann Monfort. Ann was born Sep 1797, and died 11 Dec 1862 in Dutchess Co, New York. They were farmers. The naming of their last child Wesley suggests that they were probably Methodist.

372.5.1.6. Susan Lavina Vail was born 8 Aug 1828 in Union Vale Twp (Dutchess) New York, and died 19 Mar 1864 in Sonara (Steubin) New York. She married 1 May 1851, William White Runyan. William was born 13 Mar 1828 in Castleton (Ontario) New York.

Both E. Wright and his brother E. Osborn are listed with the first name Egbert. It seems likely that one of them is in error, although we have seen one other case where a family gave two daughters the same first name and different middle names.

372.6.5. Mary Vail was born in 1808 in Verbank (Dutchess) New York, and died about 1900 in Brooklyn, New York. She married John D. Snedecor.

John married first, about 1838 in New York, Marie Antoinette Fowler. Marie was born about 1818 and died in 1858 following the birth of their twins. They may have moved to Illinois, but there is conflicting information given: the website source has son Cornelius' death in Illinois in Oct 1856, but still lists the last three children (born 1856 to 1858) as born in New York. I suspect the move to Illinois was probably made after Marie's death.
