Rita’s Family: Ancestors of Helen Spencer |
||
| These pages are a compilation of my work and that of others. You are welcome to use anything on this page, but be aware that although I have been as careful and accurate as possible, I am not a professional genealogist. I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. For the most part I have limited my scope to their great-grandchildren (second cousins to us); in some cases I list sources which may continue further. | HOME | |

NOTABLES:
352. Isaac Kilbourn served in the French and Indian War (died) |
352. Isaac Kilbourn {a,b,c} was born in 1717 in Massachusetts, and died about 1763 near Crown Point (Essex) New York. He is a son of John Kilbourn [704] and Rebecca ___ [705]. Isaac married about 1752,
353. Hannah Ordway {a,b,c}. Hannah, also seen as Joanna Ordway or Joanna Clark, was born probably about 1720.
Hannah had previously married Aaron Clark, who died about 1750. Isaac served in the French and Indian War, and died at Fort Crown Point. There were no battles in that area at the time, so he probably died of illness. One of their sons was also said to have served in the war, but I don’t believe that -- the oldest any of them could be would be 11.
Isaac and Hannah had six children:
352.1. John Kilbourn [176] (1753 MA - 1840 MA) and Mary Burpee are direct ancestors, separate page.
352.2. Calvin Kilbourn (1757 MA - 1852) had descendants and is expanded below.
352.3. Aaron Kilbourn {c} was born probably in the 1750’s.
352.4. Jacob Kilbourn {c} was born probably in the 1750’s.
352.5. Isaac Kilbourn {c} was born probably in the 1750’s.
352.6. William Kilbourn {c} was born 8 Sep 1762 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 28 Nov 1841 in Burlington (Chittenden) Vermont. He married first, Mary Bartholomew. William married second, Ann Woodruff.
352.2. Calvin Kilbourn {b,c} was born Oct 1757 (some have 1 Nov, that may be the baptism date) possibly in Lancaster (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 23 Jan 1852 (from {b} - but {c} says he was still living in Princeton, Massachusetts at age 99 in 1856).
Calvin married first, 9 Oct 1783, Mary Stratton. Mary was born about 1758 in Rutland (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 15 Sep 1847 at age 89.
Calvin married second, about 1848 (intent 28 Oct 1848), Susan Warren, daughter of John Warren and widow of ___ Sanderson. Susan was born
about 1778 and died 22 Jan 1861. Calvin served in the Revolutionary War. Calvin and first wife Mary moved at some point to
Princeton (Worcester) Massachusetts, and at least some of their children were probably born there.
Calvin and Mary had six children (first cousins to us):
352.2.1. Isaac Kilbourn {b,c} was born 30 Mar 1788.
352.2.2. Willlam Kilbourn {b,c} was born 29 Sep 1789.
352.2.3. Sally Kilbourn {b,c} was born probably about 1790, and died sometime before 1793.
352.2.4. Sally Kilbourn {b,c} was born 21 Jul 1793. She married 25 Mar 1813, James Winch of Holden.
352.2.5. Eli Kilbourn {b,c} was born 3 Apr 1796.
352.2.6. Mary Kilbourn {b,c} was born 18 Mar 1800 and died 27 Nov 1844. She married 28 Nov 1821,
Charles B. Temple, son of Joshua Temple and Abigail Brooks. Charles was born 6 Oct 1797.
Mary and Charles had four children (second cousins to us):
352.2.6.1. Charles E. Temple {b} was born Aug. 12, 1823.
352.2.6.2. Abigail Temple {b} was born June 4, 1825. She married 15 Mar 1845, Sidney R. Wilder of Sterling.
352.2.6.3. unnamed Temple {b} was born probably about Oct 1828 and died 8 Oct 1828.
352.2.6.4. unnamed Temple {b} was born 20 Dec 1839, and died the same day.
