These pages are a compilation of my work and that of others. I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. John Kilbourn and Mary Burpee

176. John Kilbourn {b} was born 3 Apr 1753 in Lancaster (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 26 Aug 1840 in Winchendon Massachusetts. He is a son of Isaac Kilbourn [352] and Joanna Ordway [353]. John married on 10 Apr 1781 in Massachusetts,

177. Mary Burpee {b}. Mary was born 23 Jan 1763 in Lancaster (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 23 May 1840, probably in Winchendon Massachusetts. She is a daughter of Samuel Burpee [354] and Martha Brocklebank

John and Mary are fourth cousins, both descending from [5688] John Cheney and Martha Parrat. Mary is seen in some places as Marah Burpee. John is said to have served in the Revolutionary War {b}.

176.1. Isaac Kilbourn {b} was born 4 Feb 1782 in Worcester Co Massachusetts. He married 31 Oct 1802, Hannah Sweet.

176.3. Stephen Kilbourn [88] (1787 MA - 1867 OH) and Sally are direct ancestors, separate page.

176.4. John Kilbourn Jr. {b} was born 1 Sep 1784 in Worcester Co Massachusetts. He married Esther Edmunds.

176.5. Patricia Kilbourn (1789 MA - d. ME?) had descendants and is expanded below.

176.6. Betsy Kilbourn {b} was born 14 Nov 1792 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts. She married Lincoln Reed. No death date is found for Lincoln, and no further information for Betsy, so it is conceivable, however unlikely, that she remarried a Sawyer and could be the mother of Martha.

176.7. Cheny Kilbourn {b} was born 26 Dec 1794 in Worcester Co Massachusetts, and died in 1796 at age 1.

176.8. Cheney Kilbourn {b} was born 5 Dec 1796 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts. He married Sally Blood.

176.10. Polly Kilbourn {b} was born 28 Jul 1801 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts. Nothing is known of her. It is possible that she married a Sawyer and is the mother of Stephen’s niece Martha Sawyer.

176.11. Joseph Kilbourn {b} was born 1 Aug 1803 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts.

176.12. Asubah Kilbourn {b} was born 24 Oct 1805 in Worcester Co Massachusetts. Also seen as Azubah Kilbourn or Azribah Kilbourn. She is yet another possibility for Martha Sawyer’s mother.

176.2. Samuel Kilbourn {b} was born 21 Sep 1783 in Worcester Co Massachusetts. He married Mary Beaman, daughter of Gideon Beaman (1764-1833) and Dolly Wilder (1768-1853). Mary was born in 1790. Mary’s father served in the Revolutionary War. Her mother Dolly gives us one connection to the Wilder and Sawyer families (she is a daughter of Jonathan Wilder and Deborah Sawyer) that appear in the family of Samuel’s brother Stephen.
Samuel and Mary had one child that we know of, there were probably others (first cousin to us):

176.2.1. Dexter Kilburn was born probably sometime between 1800 and 1810. He married Angeline McChesney. Angeline died 1 Jul 1874.

176.5. Patricia (Patty) Kilbourn {b} was born 4 Oct 1789 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died probably in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine. She married 10 Jan 1811 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts, Tyrus Dresser, son of Elijah Dresser (1751 MA - 1845 ME) and Sarah Houghton (1756 MA - ). Tyrus is not related to Patricia, but he descends from Samuel Dresser and Mary Leaver, so they have some Kilbourn and Burpee cousins in common. Tyrus was born about 1785 in Sterling (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died about 1880, probably in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine.
Patricia and Tyrus had four children (first cousins to us):

176.5.2. Harriet Dresser was born about 1816 in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine, and died 17 Sep 1847 in Kingfield (Franklin) Maine. She married Cyrus K. Wood.

176.5.3. Elijah Houghton Dresser was born 5 Jul 1822 in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine. He married Nancy F. ___. Nancy was born about 1823 in Maine. They were farmers.
Elijah and Nancy had eight children (second cousins to us):

176.5.3.1. Katherine Dresser was born about 1851 in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine. She married in Maine, Charles Quincy Dillingham. Charles was born 23 Jul 1850 in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine, and died 25 May 1911.

176.5.3.2. Albert Howard Dresser was born 13 May 1853 in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine.

176.5.3.3. Harriet Florence Dresser was born 20 Sep 1856 in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine.

176.5.3.4. Ellen Maria Dresser was born 5 Mar 1859 in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine.

176.5.3.5. Walter Prentiss Dresser was born 9 Apr 1861 in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine.

176.5.3.6. Willard H. Dresser was born 20 Apr 1863 in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine. He married Minnie B. Harris, daughter of David H. Harris and Mary A. ___. Minnie was born about 1865 in Lynn (Essex) Massachusetts.

176.5.3.8. Frank F. Dresser was born about 1867 in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine. He married 7 Apr 1886 in Maine, Lillian G. Churchill.

176.5.4. Martha Kilburn Dresser was born 31 Oct 1824 in Turner (Androscoggin) Maine.

176.9. William Kilbourn {a,b} was born 27 Aug 1799 in Templeton (Worcester) Massachusetts. He married 6 Dec 1824 in Templeton, Abigail Baldwin, daughter of Eden Baldwin (b. 1768 in MA) and Abigail Force. Abigail was born 9 Jan 1806 in Templeton (Worcester) Massachusetts.
William was a chair manufacturer. There is no evidence, but it seems likely that Stephen (also a chair manufacturer) and William worked together for a time before Stephen moved to New York.
William and Abigail had nine children (first cousins to us):

176.9.1. Eden Baldwin Kilbourn {a} was born Mar 1828 in Templeton (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 3 Sep 1829 in Templeton, age 1.

176.9.2. Abigail Kilbourn {a} was born in 1829 in Templeton (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 20 Jan 1832 in Templeton, age 3.

176.9.3. George Washington Kilbourn was born probably sometime in the 1830’s to 1840’s. He married Lydia M. Wheeler.
George and Lydia had one child that we know of, there were probably others (second cousin to us):

176.9.4. Abigail Force Kilbourn was born probably sometime in the 1830’s to 1840’s. She married Gilbert Brown.
Abigail and Gilbert had two children that we know of, there may be others (second cousins to us):

176.9.5. William Wallace Kilbourn was born probably sometime in the 1830’s to 1840’s, and died in Arkansas. He was a dentist.

176.9.6. Mary Jane Kilbourn was born probably sometime in the 1830’s to 1840’s. She married George Ebenezer Parkman.
Mary and George had two children that we know of, there may be others (second cousins to us):

176.9.6.2. Alfred Clarence Parkman was born probably in the 1860s, and died in 1957.

176.9.7. Joseph Warren Kilbourn was born probably sometime in the 1830’s to 1840’s. He married Fanny Sibley.
Joseph and Fanny had one child that we know of, there were probably others (second cousin to us):

176.9.8. Martha Ann Kilbourn was born probably sometime in the 1830’s to 1840’s. She married Henry Brown.
Martha and Henry had three children (second cousins to us):
