Bill’s Family: Ancestors of Eldora Beahm |
||
| These pages are a compilation of my work and that of others. You are welcome to use anything on this page, but be aware that although I have been as careful and accurate as possible, I am not a professional genealogist. I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. For the most part I have limited my scope to their great-grandchildren (second cousins to us); in some cases I list sources which may continue further. | HOME | |

15618. Alling Ball was born in 1598 near London, England, and died 22 Sep 1689 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut. He is a son of Richard Ball [31236] and Elizabeth Goodman [31237]. Alling married
15619. Dorothy Tuttle. Dorothy was born sometime around 1600 in England.
I was unable to find anything on the name Tuttle, other than that it is English. Some heraldry sites say it is related to names such as Tuthill and Tuthall, so it may originate from a location.
We don't know when this family came to America. The first three children at least were born in England,
so 1626 would be the earliest date. Alling signed an oath of allegiance in New Haven Colony on 1 Jul 1644, this is
probably close to the time they arrived there.
I believe they were Anglican.
Alling and Dorothy had four children:
15618.1. Alling Ball (1619 Eng - 1702) had descendants and is expanded below.
15618.2. Mary Ball was born in 1622 in England, and died 25 Aug 1674. She married
James Russell.
Mary and James had one daughter that we know of, there may have been others (first cousin to us):
15618.2.1. Hannah Russell was born sometime around 1645. She married Thomas Kimberley, Jr.
15618.3. Susanna Ball [7809] (1625 Eng - 1677 CT) and Thomas Blatchley are direct ancestors, separate page.
15618.4. William Ball was born in 1626, probably in England.
15618.1. Alling Ball was born in 1619 in England, and died in 1702. He married
about 1640 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, Dorothy Fugill.
Alling and Dorothy had at least four children (first cousins to us):
15618.1.1. John Ball was born 15 Apr 1649 in Connecticut, and died
1 Jan 1730. He married 11 Dec 1678 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, Sarah Glover, daughter of Henry Glover
(1603 Eng - 1689 CT) and Helena Russell (~1605 Eng - d. CT). Sarah was born 3 Dec 1655 in New Haven (New Haven)
Connecticut, and died 22 Nov 1730 in New Haven.
John and Sarah had nine children (second cousins to us):
15618.1.1.1. Eliphalet Ball was born 26 May 1680 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, and died in childhood.
15618.1.1.2. unnamed Ball was born 12 Dec 1681 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, and died within a few days.

and died 25 Nov 1760 in Wallingford (New Haven) Connecticut. She married 2 Aug 1710 in New Haven, John Miles.
John died 18 Nov 1760 in Wallingford (New Haven) Connecticut.
They had eight children.
15618.1.1.6. Hannah Ball was born 12 Jan 1690 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 20 Jan 1752 in New Haven. She married 24 Mar 1709, Joseph Mix. Joseph was born 18 Dec 1684 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 12 Feb 1757 in New Haven.
15618.1.1.7. Mercy Ball was born 5 Apr 1692 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, and died in childhood.
15618.1.1.8. Mary Ball was born 22 Oct 1694 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 11 May 1776. She married 16 Jan 1717 in New Haven, Daniel Thompson, son of John Thompson (1657 - 1711) and Rebecca Daniel (1657 - ). Daniel was born 31 Oct 1685, and died 26 Nov 1766. They had eleven children.

15618.1.2. Eliphalet Ball was born 11 Feb 1651 in Connecticut, and died 11 Jul 1673. He married 13 Feb 1672, Hannah Nash.
15618.1.3. Dorothy Ball was born about 1654 in Connecticut, and died 13 Aug 1684 in East Haven (New Haven) Connecticut. Some have her listed as Mercy Ball. Dorothy married 10 Feb 1675 in New Haven, (New Haven) Connecticut, George Pardee, son of George Pardee (1624 Eng - 1700 CT) and Martha Miles. George was born 15 Jan 1656, and died 22 Nov 1723.
15618.1.4. Alling Ball was born 27 Jun 1656 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, and
died in 1710. He married Sarah Thompson, daughter of John Thompson and Dorothy ___. Sarah was born 30 Apr 1654 in New
Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 23 Oct 1716 in East Haven.
Alling and Sarah had five children (second cousins to us):
15618.1.4.1. Sarah Ball was born 26 Aug 1679 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut. She married 7 Jan 1700 in New Haven, Joseph Ives. Joseph was born 17 Oct 1673 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 1 Nov 1751.

15618.1.4.4. Alling Ball was born about 1691 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 15 Apr 1761 in New Fairfield (Fairfield) Connecticut.
15618.1.4.5. Mercy Ball was born about 1693 in New Haven (New Haven) Connecticut.
There is some disagreement over another possible son of Alling and Dorothy:
(15618.1.5 ?) Edward Ball was born about 1642 in Connecticut, and died in
1724 in New Jersey. He married about 1663 in Branford (New Haven) Connecticut,
Abigail Blatchley [7808.2], daughter of Thomas Blatchley and Susanna Ball.
If Edward is a son of Alling, then Edward and Abigail are first cousins. The relation between Edward and Alling has been
investigated by many people over many years, and there is no agreement -- the question will most likely never be resolved. There is
certainly no conflict with the known children, as Alling was married around 1640, and the first known child is not born until 1647.
There most probably were several unknown children, one of whom could have been Edward, born between 1641 and 1646.
Edward is one of the founders of Newark, New Jersey in Oct 1666. Edward and Abigail had six
children, listed under Abigail.
I am currently going back through old pages to add sources -- have not completed this one yet, but will eventually
