This was John’s third marriage. He had first married Mary Seward, who was born 28 Feb 1651/52 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died on 12 Mar 1683/84 in Guilford. His second marriage to Mercy Johnson (~1645-1690) had no known children. There were four children from the first marriage: John (1676-1758), Mary (1678-1743), Mercy (1680- ), Mehitabel (1682- ). His son John marries 7820.8 Mary Norton, and his daughter Mary marries 15688.3.3.1 Joseph Stone. She married 21 Mar 1721, Gideon Chittenden, son of Joseph Chittenden (1672 CT - 1727 CT) and Mary Kimberly (1671 CT - 1742 CT). Gideon was born on 3 Feb 1697/98 in Connecticut, and died sometime after 1781 in New Milford (Litchfield) Connecticut.
Abigail and Gideon had nine children (second cousins to us):

He married on 17 Nov 1774 in Guilford, his cousin Diana Ward [7822.1.2.4.2], daughter of Andrew Ward (1727-1799) and Diana Hubbard (1733-1798). Diana was born 24 Sep 1753 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 24 Apr 1784. Diana and Abraham are fourth cousins once removed, both being descended from 15620 John Bishop and Anne Stevens.

7810.7.2.2. Millicent Chittenden was born 5 Apr 1725 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 6 Dec 1814 in East Guilford. She married on 6 Apr 1749, John Hopson [7864.3.3.1], son of John Hopson and Deborah Bartlett. John was born 6 Apr 1727 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 2 Aug 1786.

7810.7.2.3. Abigail Chittenden was born 17 Mar 1727 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut. She married 14 Nov 1751, Samuel Stone. Samuel was born on 1 Apr 1729, and died in 1769 in New Milford (Litchfield) Connecticut.

7810.7.2.4. Prudence Chittenden was born 14 Oct 1729 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 22 Aug 1822. She married 18 Mar 1756 in Connecticut, Nathan Johnson [3920.3.11], son of Isaac Johnson and Phebe Bristol. Nathan was born 4 Dec 1731 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut.
Prudence and Nathan had one child (Ruth), listed under Nathan who is closer to the main line.

7810.7.2.5. Giles Chittenden was born 8 Dec 1731 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died about 1812 in New Milford (Litchfield) Connecticut. He married his cousin Temperance Bishop [7810.6.4.2], daughter of Ebenezer Bishop and Mehitabel Chittenden. Temperance was born 1 Mar 1731/32 in Guilford. Giles and Temperance are second cousins through our Bishop line, and are also third cousins through Chittenden.

7810.7.2.6. Miles Chittenden was born 15 Jun 1734 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 15 Dec 1755. His age and date of death suggest possible involvement in the French and Indian War, but we have no information concerning this.

7810.7.2.7. Ruth Chittenden was born 15 May 1737 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 20 Jan 1800. She married Eber Norton [7820.6.6], son of Thomas Norton and Rachel Starr. Eber was born 8 Nov 1718 and died 6 Feb 1794.
Ruth and Eber had one known child, listed under Eber.

7810.7.2.8. Stephen Chittenden was born 9 May 1739 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died about 1808 in Kent (Litchfield) Connecticut. He married on 26 Sep 1765, Lucy Bardsley.

He married his cousin Elizabeth Crampton, daughter of Elizabeth Crittenden and John Crampton. Elizabeth was born 28 Nov 1737 in East Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 26 May 1814 in Guilford. Elizabeth and Noah are second cousins, both being descended from John Chittenden and Hannah Fletcher, outside our lines.

7810.7.4. Catherine Bishop was born 23 Jul 1710 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut. She married 17 May 1731, David Field, son of Ebenezer Field (1671-1713) and Mary Dudley (1678 CT - 1740). David was born 2 Dec 1697 in East Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 6 Feb 1770 in East Guilford. His sister Mary married 3904.7 Joshua Blatchley. David had first married Catherine’s cousin Ann Bishop (7810.2.3), and had four children under age 10 from that marriage.

7810.7.4.3. Ebenezer Field was born 18 Apr 1736 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died in 1777 in Danbury (Fairfield) Connecticut. He married 1 Mar 1756, Rachel Scranton [7820.8.3.3], daughter of Josiah Scranton and Mary Dickinson. Rachel was born 22 Jan 1738/39, and died in 1826.

7810.7.4.4. Timothy Field was born 12 Mar 1743/44 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 1 Jan 1818 in East Guilford. He married 25 Nov 1767 in Guilford, Anna Dudley [3924.3.8.5], daughter of David Dudley and Mary Talman. Anna was born 13 Apr 1752 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died Oct 1819. Timothy is called “Captain”, but there is no indication whether this is military, or a boat captain -- based on his age, I would guess he may have been in the Revolutionary War, but there is no mention of this either.

She married 18 Sep 1706 in Guilford, Samuel Lee, son of Edward Lee (~1655 CT - 1727 CT) and Elizabeth Wright (~1655 CT - 1685). Samuel was born 25 Jun 1681 in Guilford (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 26 Aug 1727. Although he is not directly related to us, Samuel is a half-brother to the children of Edward Lee and 15648.3.9 Abigail Stevens.
