Bill’s Family: Ancestors of Eldora Beahm

These pages are a compilation of my work and that of others. You are welcome to use anything on this page, but be aware that although I have been as careful and accurate as possible, I am not a professional genealogist. I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. For the most part I have limited my scope to their great-grandchildren (second cousins to us); in some cases I list sources which may continue further.   HOME

Thomas Curtis and Richardene ___

This is a double line: two children are direct ancestors.

7704 (also 15396). Thomas Curtis was born sometime around 1590 to 1600 in England, and died 1631 in Kent, England. He married 16 Jul 1618 in England,

7705 (also 15397). Richardene ___.

These are the earliest known ancestors in this branch of the family. The name Curtis is most commonly said to derive from “courteous”. Some say it could come from Curthose, referring to someone who wore the short pants introduced at the time of Henry II. Either way, there are many unrelated Curtis lines in England and America. Also seen as Curtiss and Curtice.

Thomas can be numbered either 7704 or 15936, as two of his sons started lines in two generations of our family. This is apparently because his son William had children later in life. It is possible that we are missing a generation (i.e. if William had a son William it might have been overlooked in the rather vague records of the time) -- all this assumes of course that the web sources are accurate, I have seen no primary data myself.
I am using 7704 as the primary reference number for Thomas, as son William’s line retains the Curtis surname the longest.

Thomas and Richardene had four children:

7704.1. Thomas Curtis (~1619 Eng -  ) had descendants and is expanded below.
