I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. 7688. Robert Randall was born about 1608 in Wendover (Buckinghamshire) England, and died 3 May 1691 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. He married first, in 1634,
7689. Mary French. Mary was born about 1603 (some have 1616) in England, and died 3 Sep 1640 in Weymouth
(Norfolk) Massachusetts. Her parents are unknown, but I have included a page for them because
she has some known siblings.
Robert married second, 1641 in Weymouth, Mary ___.
There is a great deal of conflict and inconsistency among the available versions for this family. I am following what seems to be the prevailing opinion among what I feel are the more reliable sources, but there is of course a danger of mistaking consensus for truth, and it is unlikely that what I have here is all correct. We recognize that these are all secondary sources, so any mistakes are just being copied one from the other. Some sources have only the one wife, Mary French, listing her as the mother of all four children. Many sources give only the first two or the last two children. Some sources have Mary ___ as the first wife, and Mary French as the second.
The name Randall is supposed to be Anglo-Saxon in origin, and derives from a first name.
We don’t know when Robert came to Massachusetts. Some say he was there before 1634, and that he married Mary French in Weymouth. Others say that they were married in England, and that Robert came to Massachusetts in 1640 with his two sons. He was listed as “freeman” in 1647.

7688.4. Hannah Randall was born Apr 1644 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 9 Mar 1711/12 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. She married John Warfield.
7688.2. Thomas Randall was born about 1637 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts
(some say England), and died 11 Jun 1711 in Taunton (Bristol) Massachusetts. He married first, in 1658, Joan ___.
Thomas and Joan had one child that we know of, there may be others (first cousin to us):
7688.2.1. unknown Randall was born sometime around 1660, and died as a child.
Thomas married second, in 1671, Hannah Packard.
Thomas and Hannah had two children (first cousins to us):
7688.2.2. Thomas Randall was born about 1673 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 4 Jun 1752 in Easton (Bristol) Massachusetts. He married in 1697, Rachel Lincoln.
7688.2.3. Deborah Randall was born 25 Sep 1683 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts.
7688.3. Mary Randall was born 20 Mar 1642 in Weymouth (Norfolk)
Massachusetts, and died 9 Mar 1712/13 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. She married 17 Sep 1660 in Weymouth,
Abraham Staples. Abraham was born sometime around 1640, and died 20 Oct 1703 in Mendon.
Mary and Abraham had one child that we know of, there were probably others (first cousin to us):
7688.3.1. Abraham Staples was born 14 Jun 1663 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died
30 Jan 1706/07 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. He married in 1688, Mehitabel Hayward. Mehitabel was born 1670 in
Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts.
Abraham and Mehitabel had two children (second cousins to us):
7688.3.1.1. Mehitabel Staples was born 20 Mar 1691/92 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 7 Apr 1753. She married Jonathan Cook.
7688.3.1.2. Mary Staples was born 1697 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 8 May 1776 in Cumberland (Providence) Rhode Island. She married Josiah Cook.
