3854. William Barstow was born Sep 1652
in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died May 1719 in Scituate. He married
3855. Martha ___. Martha (some sources have Sarah ___) was born about
1655, and died 13 Aug 1711 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts.
The name is also seen as Berstow. They were Congregational, and were members of the Second
Church of Scituate.
William inherited the family shipyard, from which we assume an occupation of shipbuilder.
William and Martha had eight children:

3854.4. Hannah Barstow was born about 1682 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts. She was baptized 30 Jul 1682 in the 2nd Church of Scituate.

born about 1678 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts; she was baptized
16 Jun 1678 in the 2nd Church of Scituate. She married 25 Dec 1705
in Scituate, John McFarland, son of Purthe MacFarland (~1640- 1721) and Patience
Russell (~1647 - 1724). John was born 7 Mar 1673/74 in Hingham
(Plymouth) Massachusetts.
Martha and John had one child that we know of, there may be others (first cousin to us):
3854.2.1. William McFarland was born about 1714 in Pembroke (Plymouth) Massachusetts; he was baptized 4 Jul 1714. He married 18 Nov 1734, Sarah Peterson, daughter of Joseph Peterson (~1669 - 1751) and Sarah Jones (b. 1671). Sarah was born about 1710 in Marshfield (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died 15 Mar 1789 in Duxbury (Plymouth) Massachusetts.
3854.5. William Barstow was born 23 Nov 1684 in Scituate
(Plymouth) Massachusetts, and was baptized 5 Feb 1685 in the 2nd Church of Schituate. He married
20 Dec 1709 in Scituate, Sarah Randall, daughter of Joseph Randall
(1643 MA -1723 MA) and Hannah MacOmber (1652 MA -1714 MA). There is no known relationship between these Randalls and
our 7688 Robert Randall line. Sarah was born 16 Sep 1680 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts. Sarah's
sister Mercy married William's brother Benjamin in a double ceremony at the 2nd Church of Scituate.
William and Sarah had three children (first cousins to us):
3854.5.1. Hannah Barstow was born 10 Aug 1710 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts.
3854.5.2. Sarah Barstow was born 2 Oct 1712 in Hanover (Plymouth) Massachusetts. She married 30 Oct 1732 in Hanover, Ezekiel Ladd, son of Nathaniel Ladd (1695 MA - ). Ezekiel was born about 1710 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died in 1752.
Sarah and Ezekiel had four children (second cousins to us):
3854.5.2.1. Sarah Ladd was born 15 Feb 1733/34 in Hanover (Plymouth) Massachusetts.
3854.5.2.2. Lemuel Ladd was born 31 Jul 1737 in Hanover (Plymouth) Massachusetts.
3854.5.2.3. Hannah Ladd was born 22 Dec 1739 in Hanover (Plymouth) Massachusetts. She married Benjamin Randall.
3854.5.2.4. William Ladd was born Sep 1743 in Hanover (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died in Duanesburg (Schenectady) New York. He married 4 Nov 1766 in Abington (Plymouth) Massachusetts, Elizabeth Vining [960.9], daughter of Thomas Vining and Hannah Randall. Elizabeth was born 21 Sep 1746 in Massachusetts, and died in Duanesburg (Schenectady) New York.
William was a pioneer settler in Schenectady County NY, 1781. With his two oldest sons he cleared 3 acres heavy forest and planted wheat, without a team or plow, and built a log cabin in what is now Duanesburg. They went back to Massachusetts during the first winter, then returned in 1782 with the rest of the family.
William and Elizabeth had eleven children, listed under Elizabeth who is closer to the main line.
3854.5.3. William Barstow was born 10 Apr 1715 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts.
3854.6. Mary Barstow was born 21 Feb 1687 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts. She married 3 Jan 1715/16 in Scituate, Samuel Harlow, son of Samuel (b. 1652). Samuel was born 14 Aug 1690 in Plymouth (Plymouth) Massachusetts.
Mary and Samuel had one child that we know of, there may be others (first cousin to us):
3854.6.1. Mary Harlow was born in 1717 probably in Plymouth Co, Massachusetts, and died in 1812.
3854.7. Benjamin Barstow was born 22 Jul 1690 in Scituate
(Plymouth) Massachusetts. He married 20 Dec 1709 in Scituate, Mercy Randall,
daughter of Joseph Randall (1643 MA -1723 MA) and Hannah MacOmber (1652
MA -1714 MA). Mercy was born 10 Mar 1685 in
Scituate. Her sister Sarah married Benjamin's brother William in
a double ceremony at the 2nd Church of Scituate. They were
Congregational.
Benjamin and Mercy had six children (first cousins to us):
3854.7.1. Benjamin Barstow was born 9 Oct 1710 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died as a child, sometime before 1716. The website source gives a baptism date of 29 Jun 1715 in the 2nd Church of Scituate, this might be the death date.
3854.7.2. Martha Barstow was born 20 Jan 1712 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts.
3854.7.3. Benjamin Barstow was born in 1716, probably in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts; baptized 2 Sep 1716 in the 2nd Church of Scituate.
3854.7.4. Nathaniel Barstow was born in 1717, probably in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts; baptized 11 Aug 1717 in the 2nd Church of Scituate.
3854.7.5. Caleb Barstow was born about 1719, probably in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts; baptized 20 Mar 1719/20, 2nd Church of Scituate.
3854.7.6. Mercy Barstow was born in 1722 in Plymouth (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died in 1753. Mercy married 1747 in Duxbury (Plymouth) Massachusetts, Joshua Thomas [7862.9.8.2], son of Josiah Thomas (1699-~1750) and Deborah Bartlett (~1700->1764), a Mayflower descendant. Mercy and Joshua are both related to us, but not to each other. Mercy was Congregational, Joshua is unknown.
Mercy and Joshua had three children (both second and third cousins to us):
3854.7.6.1. Mercy Thomas was born 13 Sep 1748 in Duxbury (Plymouth) Massachusetts. She married 18 Jan 1769 in Duxbury, her third cousin Edward Southworth [7862.3.5.1.1], son of William Southworth (1716 MA - 1778 MA) and Mary Fullerton (~1720 - 1761). Edward was born 27 Mar 1747 in Duxbury, and died 1 Feb 1833. Edward and Mercy are both Mayflower descendants (Alden/Mullins).
3854.7.6.2. Peleg Thomas was born 3 Nov 1751 in Duxbury (Plymouth) Massachusetts. He married 21 Nov 1775 in Duxbury, Mary Jones. Mary was born about 1754 in Charlestown (Suffolk) Massahusetts.
3854.7.6.3. Joshua Thomas was born sometime around 1750 in Duxbury (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died in Sep 1819. He married Mary Burgess. Mary was born 14 May 1759 in Wareham (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died sometime after 1840 in Maine.
