These pages are a compilation of my work and that of others. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. William Curtis

3852. William Curtis was born sometime around the 1620’s. He was married, but the name of his wife is unknown.

This is a rather weak link with apparently little hard documentation. William is mentioned in only a few website sources, and his birth date is given in most as 1620. This would make him over 60 years old when Samuel was born -- that may be possible, but I suspect that we are missing a generation here, and that the father of these children may actually be a son of William, probably the same name, and probably born about 1640.

3852.2. Benjamin Curtis was born 1667 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died in Scituate. He married 1689 in Scituate, Mary Sylvester [7708.2.2], daughter of Joseph Sylvester and Mary Barstow. Mary was born 24 Dec 1666 in Massachusetts.
Benjamin and Mary had eleven children (both first and second cousins to us):

3852.2.1. Mary Curtis was born 22 Aug 1691 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died 30 Jul 1762. She married 11 Dec 1712 in Boston (Middlesex) Massachusetts, Thomas Chute [SPENCER 2846.6], son of James Chute and Mary Wood. Mary and Thomas had nine children, listed under Thomas who is closer to the main line.

3852.2.4. Lydia Curtis was born 27 Feb 1695/96 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts. She married 13 Dec 1716, Joseph House Jr.

3852.2.6. Ruth Curtis was born 14 Jan 1699/00 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts.

3852.2.7. Susanna Curtis was born 23 Mar 1701/02 in Hanover (Plymouth) Massachusetts.

3852.2.9. William Sylvester Curtis was born 12 Aug 1705 in Hanover (Plymouth) Massachusetts. He married 3 Nov 1738 in Hanover, his cousin Mary Barstow Curtis [1926.3], daughter of Samuel Curtis (1681-1747) and Anna Barstow (1681-1746). They are first cousins through the Curtis line, and also second cousins through Barstow.
William and Mary had one known child, Anna, listed under Mary who is closer to the main line.

3852.4. John Curtis was born Feb 1670/71 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts. He married 4 Mar 1707/08 in Scituate, Experience Palmer. Experience was born 31 Mar 1679 in Scituate.
John and Experience had four children (first cousins to us):

3852.4.1. John Curtis was born 1709 in Massachusetts, and died 1799 in Massachusetts. He married first, 29 Jun 1732 in Hingham (Plymouth) Massachusetts, Sarah Franklin. Sarah was born 14 Apr 1713 in Hingham (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died 1737 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts. She probably died during or shortly after the birth of their third child.
John and Sarah had three children (second cousins to us):

3852.4.1.3. John Curtis was born 6 May 1737 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died probably the same day or shortly after.

John married second, 6 Nov 1738 probably in Scituate, Mary Bryant. Mary was born 1711 in Massachusetts, and died 1797 in Massachusetts.
John and Mary had two children (second cousins to us):

3852.4.1.4. Elizabeth (Betty) Curtis was born 26 Aug 1739 in Hanover (Plymouth) Massachusetts.

3852.4.1.5. John Bryant Curtis was born 2 Jan 1741 in Hanover (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died 27 Sep 1799 in Hanover. He married 28 Mar 1765 in Hanover, his second cousin Anna Curtis [1926.3.1], daughter of William Sylvester Curtis (3852.2.9 above) and Mary Barstow Curtis.
John and Anna had ten children, listed under Anna who is closer to the main line.
