These pages are a compilation of my work and that of others. You are welcome to use anything on this page, but be aware that although I have been as careful and accurate as possible, I am not a professional genealogist. I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. John Randall and Mercy Aldrich

3844. John Randall {wa} was born about 1635, perhaps in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts (but see note below) and died 25 Feb 1717/18 in Taunton (Bristol) Massachusetts. He is a son of Robert Randall [7688] and Mary French [7689]. John married 27 Aug 1667 in Massachusetts,

3845. Mercy Aldrich {wa}. Mercy (also seen as Mercy Aldridge) was born 17 Apr 1650 in Braintree (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 26 Sep 1702 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. She is a daughter of George Aldrich [7424] and Katherine Seald [7425].

Some say John was born in Massachusetts, others that he was born in England and arrived in Massachusetts with his father and a brother. He was listed as a ‘freeman’ in 1691. Mercy is Congregational; we don’t know the religion of John, but their immigration to Massachusetts as well as John’s marriage to Mercy suggests the Randalls may also be Congregational.
Mercy’s brother Jacob is also a direct ancestor: the lines will rejoin in eight generations (Beahm/Vining).

3844.1. Mary Randall {wa} was born 31 May 1668 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 11 Feb 1749. She married 1688 in Massachusetts, Nicholas Phillips, son of Richard Phillips (1638 Eng - ) and Mary Packard (1636 Eng - <1690 MA). Nicholas was born 30 Mar 1664 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 11 Mar 1751 in Weymouth. He had married in 1686, Amy ___, who died about 1687.
Mary and Nicholas had four children (first cousins to us):

3844.1.1. Mary Phillips was born 29 Nov 1690 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. She married 11 Dec 1716 in Boston (Middlesex) Massachusetts, Samuel Badlam, son of William Badlam and Mary French. Samuel was born sometime around 1690 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 22 Nov 1761 in Weymouth.

3844.1.2. Mercy Phillips was born 24 Aug 1692 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. She married 6 Apr 1720 in Weymouth, John Kingman, son of Thomas Kingman (1628 Eng - 1705 MA) and Rebecca ___. I am not comfortable with the identification of Thomas as the father of John, since it makes Thomas nearly 60 when John is born, and/or forces John to be much older than Mercy -- possible, but I think more likely we are missing a generation.

3844.1.3. Hannah Phillips (Twin to Nicholas) was born 23 May 1697 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 24 Oct 1730 in Weymouth. She married 10 Oct 1720 in Weymouth, John Whitmarsh, son of Ezra Whitmarsh (1670 MA - 1754 MA) and Bathsheba Richards (1674 MA -1752 MA). John was born 27 Apr 1700 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts.
Hannah and John had three children (second cousins to us):

3844.1.3.1. Hannah Whitmarsh was born 24 Jun 1721 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. She married 25 Jan 1738, William Tirrell.

3844.1.3.2. Mary Whitmarsh was born 9 Mar 1723 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. She married 22 Oct 1741, Isaac Tirrell.

3844.1.3.3. Bathsheba Whitmarsh was born 29 Jun 1728 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. She married 14 Nov 1745, Ebenezer Bisbee.

3844.1.4. Nicholas Phillips (Twin to Hannah) was born 23 May 1697 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. He married 12 Feb 1727 in Weymouth, Judith Savill, daughter of William Savill and Experience Quincy. Judith was born 10 Oct 1694 in Braintree (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 11 Jul 1766 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts.
Nicholas and Judith had two children (second cousins to us):

3844.1.4.1. Nicholas Phillips was born 5 Oct 1733 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 15 May 1790 in Weymouth. He married 1753 in Weymouth, his second cousin Rhoda Bates [1922.7.1], daughter of John Bates and Thankful Randall.

3844.1.4.2. William Phillips was born 12 Jun 1737 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 20 Oct 1822 in Weymouth.

3844.3. Elizabeth Randall {wa} was born around 1678 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. She married about 1705, Benjamin Orcutt, son of William Orcutt (1618 Eng - 1693 MA) and Martha Lane (~1645-1712). Benjamin was born 1680 in Scituate (Plymouth) Massachusetts, and died Feb 1770 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. Benjamin’s niece Jane Orcutt marries into another line of our family.
Elizabeth and Benjamin had six children (first cousins to us):

3844.3.3. Hannah Orcutt was born 11 Nov 1710 in Massachusetts, and died 5 Aug 1789.

3844.3.5. Andrew Orcutt was born 7 Apr 1715 in Massachusetts, and died 3 Feb 1801.

3844.4. Mercy Randall {wa} was born 1679 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 9 May 1737. She married 1697, Thomas Kingman. Thomas was born 11 Feb 1669/70 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 16 Feb 1742 in Weymouth. After Mercy died, Thomas married in 1738, Mary Humphrey.
Mercy and Thomas had six children (first cousins to us):

3844.4.1. Sarah Kingman was born 18 Aug 1698 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 11 Jan 1771. She married 1722, John Kingman. John was born 1699 in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and died 1775 in Bridgewater. Sarah and John are probably cousins, but exact relation is unknown.

3844.4.2. Thomas Kingman was born 11 Jul 1700 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 9 May 1752. He married 1728, Mary Ripley. Mary was born 1695 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts.

3844.4.3. John Kingman (Twin to Samuel) was born 24 Jul 1702 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 1784 in Weymouth. He married Hannah Tirrell. Hannah was born 1705 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 12 Jul 1761 in Weymouth.

3844.4.4. Samuel Kingman (Twin to John) was born 24 Jul 1702 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. He married 1737, Mary Torrey. Mary was born 11 Oct 1711 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts.

3844.4.5. Mercy Kingman was born 25 Jun 1710 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. She married 1737, Ebenezer White.

3844.4.6. Rachel Kingman was born 30 Nov 1714 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 12 Jul 1731.

3844.5. Sarah Randall was born about 1680 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 20 Oct 1732 in Norfolk Co, Massachusetts. Sarah married 28 Oct 1704 in Norfolk Co, Massachusetts, Dr. Benjamin Ludden, son of Benjamin Ludden and Eunice Holbrook. Benjamin was born about 1678 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 9 Jun 1752 in Braintree (Norfolk) Massachusetts. He was a physician.

3844.5.1. John Ludden was born 7 Sep 1705 in Norfolk Co, Massachusetts, and died 22 Apr 1789 in Braintree (Norfolk) Massachusetts. He married Mary Thayer, daughter of Richard Thayer (1685 MA - <1774 MA) and Mary White (1690 - 1727 MA). Mary was born 26 Sep 1713 in Braintree (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 2 Oct 1803 in Braintree. Mary’s half-sister Jerusha married John’s cousin [1922.1.5] Randall Wild.
John and Mary had one child that we know of, there were probably others (second cousin to us):

3844.5.2. Sarah Ludden was born 21 Oct 1707 in Norfolk Co, Massachusetts. Some have Sarah married to Jonathan Wild in 1739, but this conflicts with Jonathan’s marriage to 1922.1 Sarah Randall. It is possible that Sarah Randall died in 1738, and that the last four children listed under Sarah Randall (Benjamin, Elisha, Lemuel, Asa) should actually be here under Sarah Ludden, but we haven’t seen any evidence to support this.

3844.5.3. Eunice Ludden was born 22 Aug 1709 in Norfolk Co, Massachusetts. She married 16 Nov 1738 in Braintree (Norfolk) Massachusetts, Joseph Thayer, son of Ephraim Thayer and Sarah Bass.
Eunice and Joseph had one child that we know of, there may be others (second cousin to us):

3844.5.3.1. Huldah Thayer was born 12 Aug 1739 in Braintree (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died in Vermont. She married John Davis.

3844.5.5. Ann Ludden was born 12 Jun 1713 in Norfolk Co, Massachusetts, and died 29 Aug 1751 in North Bridgewater (Plymouth) Massachusetts. She married 11 May 1749 in Braintree (Norfolk) Massachusetts, Ephraim Willis. Ephraim was born 30 Jul 1713, and died 26 Feb 1790.

3844.5.6. Joseph Ludden was born 3 Apr 1716 in Norfolk Co, Massachusetts. He married 28 Jan 1741/42 in Braintree (Norfolk) Massachusetts, Elizabeth Wild, daughter of Samuel Wild and Bethiah Copeland. Elizabeth was born 18 Apr 1723 in Braintree (Norfolk) Massachusetts.

3844.5.7. Benjamin Ludden was born 4 Jan 1718/19 in Norfolk Co, Massachusetts, and died 23 May 1789 in Chesterfield (Hampshire) Massachusetts. He married Esther Capen. Esther was born 5 Apr 1726 in Dorchester (Suffolk) Massachusetts, and died 23 Jan 1808 in Chesterfield (Hampshire) Massachusetts.

3844.6. Hannah Randall was born about 1682 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 16 Apr 1767 in Weymouth. She married 14 Jan 1700, Thomas Reed, son of Thomas Reade and Sarah Bicknell. Thomas is a nephew of Margaret Reade, the first wife of 3840 John Vining.
Hannah and Thomas had six children (first cousins to us):

3844.6.1. Thomas Reed was born 18 Oct 1701 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 27 Feb 1768.

3844.6.2. Daniel Reed was born 10 Sep 1704 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died in 1776. He married first, Ruth Torrey, daughter of Jonathan Torrey and Margaret Pool. He married second, Sarah Howland. No children from the second marriage are known.
Daniel and Ruth had three children (second cousins to us):

3844.6.2.1. Daniel Reed was born 10 Nov 1729. He married Mary Turner, and Anna Dawes.

3844.6.3. Hannah Reed was born 14 Mar 1706 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. She married James Pettee.

3844.6.6. Sarah Reed was born 1 Aug 1715 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 1 Apr 1788 in Weymouth. She married about 1740 in Massachusetts, Abiah Whitman, son of Abiah Whitman (1646 MA - 1728 MA) and Mary Ford (~1650 MA - 1715 MA). Abiah was born 30 Nov 1690 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 30 Jan 1770 in Weymouth. He was a deacon. This was Abiah’s second marriage, he had first married Ruth Pittee (1695-1738). Abiah is a first cousin to Nicholas Whitman, who married 3840.6 Sarah Vining. He is also a first cousin once removed to Joseph Whitman, who marries into the Spencer line.
Sarah and Abiah had six children (second cousins to us). Three of their children died in a 1751 epidemic:

3844.6.6.1. Abiah Whitman was born 10 May 1741 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. He married 15 May 1766, Abigail Giles.

3844.6.6.2. Ruth Whitman was born 5 Nov 1743 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 3 Oct 1751 in Weymouth, age 8.

3844.6.6.3. Sarah Whitman was born 2 Sep 1745 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 10 Sep 1751 in Weymouth, age 6.

3844.6.6.4. William Whitman was born 12 Oct 1748 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 7 Sep 1751 in Weymouth, age 3.

3844.6.6.5. Sarah Whitman was born 17 Oct 1752 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 25 Feb 1825. She married 1773, Ambrose Salisbury.

3844.6.6.6. Ruth Whitman was born 20 Oct 1755 in Weymouth (Norfolk) Massachusetts. She married 8 Nov 1783, Jesse Reed.
