These pages are a compilation of my work and that of others. You are welcome to use anything on this page, but be aware that although I have been as careful and accurate as possible, I am not a professional genealogist. I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. Levi Aldrich and Abigail Hunt

928. Levi Aldrich {wa} was born 19 Dec 1729 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 22 Dec 1795 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. He is a son of David Aldrich [1856] and Hannah Capron [1857]. Levi married 27 Feb 1745/46 (source {wa} has 7 Dec 1745, this is probably when they published the intent) in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts,

Rita’s family has also two direct Hunt lines: William, and Sarah. As far as we know they are unrelated to Abigail.

Levi and Abigail eloped and were married by a Justice of the Peace at age 15. Levi was a blacksmith and innkeeper. He owned a trip-hammer, which was a rare implement. It was a massive hammer that was mechanically driven, usually by a water wheel -- something like a drop-forge. They also kept a public house in Mendon, near the Bellingham coach line. Public sales of cattle were held at their inn. Levi was very large, and it was said that most of his sons were also large. He weighed over 300 pounds at death -- they had to remove the door casings to get his coffin out. Levi and Abigail stayed in Massachusetts, but most of their children scattered to New Hampshire, Vermont or Pennsylvania.

928.8. Luther Aldrich was born 1764 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 12 Jul 1832 in Swanton (Franklin) Vermont. He married 29 Sep 1788 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, Sarah Scott. Sarah was born about 1765 in Bellingham (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 13 Feb 1833 in Swanton (Franklin) Vermont.

928.9. Chloe Aldrich was born 19 May 1765 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. She married about 1785 Samuel Swift. Samuel died in 1797.

928.10. Calvin Aldrich (1767 MA - 1829 VT) had descendants and is expanded below.

928.1. Rufus Aldrich was born 19 Dec 1746 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 8 May 1833 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. He had the title “Major” but the source does not explain what is meant by that -- he may have served in the Revolutionary War. Rufus married four times, and had one child from each of the first three marriages.
Rufus married first, 7 Aug 1768 in Mendon, Lois Lovett. Lois died Mar 1770 in Mendon following the birth of her daughter.
Rufus and Lois had one child (first cousin to us):

Rufus married second, 23 Jul 1771 in Mendon, Susannah Thompson, daughter of David Thompson (1711-1757) and Susannah Darling (1717-1779). Susannah was born 1747 in Massachusetts, and died 1775 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts.
Rufus and Susannah had one child (first cousin to us):

928.1.2. Joanna Aldrich was born 17 Dec 1771 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts.

Rufus married third, 9 Dec 1779 in Mendon, Susannah ___. Susannah was born sometime around 1750, and died in Mendon sometime before 1808.
Rufus and Susannah had one child (first cousin to us):

928.1.3. Rufus Aldrich was born 11 Aug 1780 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. He was a fisherman or merchant, and was lost at sea.

Rufus married fourth, 26 Mar 1809 in Mendon, Sally Thompson. They had no children.

928.2. Nathan Aldrich was born 1750 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 2 Apr 1832 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. He married 19 Jun 1774 in Cumberland (Providence) Rhode Island, Martha Jillson, daughter of Nathaniel Jillson (~1715-1782) and Sarah Arnold (1718 RI -1783 RI). Martha was born 19 Feb 1753 in Cumberland (Providence) Rhode Island, and died 8 Feb 1827 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She was seven months pregnant at marriage.
Nathan and Martha moved to New Hampshire in June1774. Two of his brothers followed the next year. Nathan served in the Revolutionary War.

928.2.1. Nahum Aldrich was born 28 Aug 1774 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 29 Mar 1863 in Richmond. He married about 1795 in New Hampshire, Sarah Jillson. Sarah was born about 1775, and died 13 Feb 1818 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. Nahum and Sarah are probably cousins, but the relation is unknown. They lived in a house next door to Nahum’s parents. Nahum was elected twice as a representative to the General Court of New Hampshire.

928.2.1.1. Liberty Aldrich was born sometime around 1795 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. He married Mary Thornton.

928.2.1.2. Susannah Aldrich was born sometime around 1795 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married William Jones.

928.2.1.3. Amasa Aldrich was born 1799 in Troy (Cheshire) New Hampshire. He married Susanna Thompson, and Anna Tolman.

928.2.1.4. Clarissa Aldrich was born 1804 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 3 Mar 1829 in Richmond.

928.2.1.5. Ellery K. Aldrich was born 8 Sep 1811 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire.

928.2.2. Levin Aldrich was born 24 May 1777 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 15 May 1855 in Richmond. He married 3 Jan 1800 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, Mary Bolles, daughter of John Bolles. Mary was born about 1780, and died 29 Apr 1859 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire.

928.3. Levi Aldrich was born 1753 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 19 May 1818. He married 5 Dec 1774 in Mendon, Elizabeth Perry, daughter of Olney Perry. Elizabeth was born 1753 in Bellingham (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died 28 Apr 1829 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. They moved to New Hampshire about Mar 1775. Elizabeth was four months pregnant at marriage, and 8 months when they made the move of about 60 miles.

928.3.1. Olney Aldrich was born 25 Apr 1775 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. He married 25 Feb 1796 in Richmond, Molly Woodward.

928.3.2. Louis Aldrich was born 23 Sep 1776 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 11 Sep 1788 in Richmond.

928.3.3. Sylvanus Aldrich was born 6 Oct 1778 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. He married Sarah Wheeler.

928.3.4. Abigail Aldrich was born 12 Sep 1781 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married her second cousin Isaac Aldrich [1856.8.3.2], son of Ananias Aldrich and Mary Randall. Isaac was born 9 Apr 1777 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire.
Abigail and Isaac had three children (both second and third cousins to us):

He married 29 Aug 1839 in Fitzwilliam (Cheshire) New Hampshire, Abigail Ann Everett, daughter of Pelatiah Mann Everett and Abigail Carter. Abigail was born 17 Mar 1821 in Fitzwilliam (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 11 Feb 1878 in Troy (Cheshire) New Hampshire.

928.3.5. Levi Aldrich was born 10 Sep 1783 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. He married his second cousin Waitstill Aldrich [1856.8.3.5], daughter of Ananias Aldrich and Mary Randall. Waitstill (called Waity) was born 3 Jun 1783 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire.

928.3.6. Noah Aldrich was born 9 Dec 1786 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died in Pennsylvania. He married 15 May 1811 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, Waitstill Starkey, daughter of Joseph Starkey and Waitstill Leander. Noah was a blacksmith.

928.3.6.1. Angela Aldrich was born 22 Oct 1812 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married Augustus Cass.

928.3.6.2. Mirinda Aldrich was born 4 Aug 1814 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married Bradley Flemings.

928.3.6.3. Joseph Starkey Aldrich was born 9 Aug 1816 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire.

928.3.6.4. Benjamin Aldrich was born 19 Jul 1818 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 1904 in Tioga (Tioga) Pennsylvania. He married 15 Sep 1842 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, Lana Thayer, daughter of Asa Thayer and Chloe Robertson. Lana was born 15 Aug 1819 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died in 1916.

928.3.6.5. Waitstill Aldrich was born 27 Jun 1821 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married Joseph Oakman.

928.3.6.6. Noah Leander Aldrich was born 31 Mar 1823 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 8 Mar 1883 in Mansfield (Tioga) Pennsylvania. He married Hannah McConnell, daughter of James McConnell and Sally Gray. Hannah was born 1829 in Pennsylvania, and died 1892 in Mansfield (Tioga) Pennsylvania.

928.3.6.7. Unnamed Aldrich was born 11 Mar 1825 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died at 4 weeks, 9 Apr 1825 in Richmond.

928.3.6.8. Levi Jillson Aldrich was born 15 Mar 1833 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 25 Jun 1906.

928.3.7. Elizabeth Aldrich was born 9 Jan 1788 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married her second cousin Rufus Aldrich [1856.8.3.6], son of Ananias Aldrich and Mary Randall. Rufus was born 28 Sep 1785 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire.

928.3.8. Lucy Aldrich was born about 1789 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married 29 Nov 1810 in Richmond, Seth Doty.

928.3.9. Leah Aldrich was born 20 Apr 1790 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married Seth Bishop.

928.3.10. Lydia Aldrich was born about 1792 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married 20 Feb 1812 in Richmond, Joseph Starkey.

928.4. Nathaniel Aldrich was born 3 Dec 1755 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died sometime after 1825 in Danby (Rutland) Vermont. He married 20 Oct 1774 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, Cleopatra Ramsdell. Cleopatra was born about 1755 in Mendon. Nathaniel and Cleopatra were farmers. They moved to New Hampshire about Mar 1775. Cleopatra was seven months pregnant with twins when they made the move. Nathaniel was elected to the New Hampshire General Court. He moved to Vermont in 1825 (we have no information as to whether Cleopatra was still alive at this time), and died at the home of his daughter Nancy.
Nathaniel and Cleopatra had twelve children (first cousins to us):

928.4.1. William Aldrich was born 20 May 1775 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 26 Sep 1778 in Richmond, age 3.

928.4.2. Luther Aldrich was born 20 May 1775 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 2 days later, 22 May 1775.

928.4.3. John Aldrich was born 23 Nov 1777 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died in Pennsylvania. He married 18 Oct 1798 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, Prussia Streeter. Prussia was born about 1780, and died in Pennsylvania.
John and Prussia had one child (second cousin to us):

928.4.3.1. Nathaniel Aldrich was born about 1800 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. He married Betsy Woodward.

928.4.4. Nancy Aldrich was born 6 Jun 1779 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died in Danby (Rutland) Vermont. She married Isaac Wilbur. Isaac was born about 1775, and died in Danby (Rutland) Vermont.

928.4.5. Nathaniel Aldrich was born 8 Jun 1781 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 29 Jul 1800 in Danby (Rutland) Vermont.

928.4.6. Moses Aldrich was born 20 Apr 1783 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died in Marlborough, New Hampshire. He married 20 Feb 1811 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, Priscilla Dexter. She was born about 1785 in Royalston, New Hampshire, and died in Marlborough, New Hampshire.

928.4.7. Lois Aldrich was born 20 Jun 1785 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married first Ezra Bowen, and second Elisha Canis.

928.4.8. Anna Aldrich was born 28 Jun 1788 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married Hosea Benson. Hosea was born 1785.

928.4.9. Aaron Aldrich was born 4 Jan 1790 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 19 Nov 1878 in Tioga Co, Pennsylvania. He married 25 Jan 1813 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, Mary Harkness, daughter of John Harkness. Mary was born about 1790, and died in Tioga Co, Pennsylvania. Aaron and Mary were farmers. They settled on Aldrich family farmlands in Cheshire County New Hampshire until 1835, then moved to Pennsylvania.
Aaron and Mary had six children (second cousins to us). Dates and birth order unknown; probably born in Cheshire County, New Hampshire:

928.4.10. Seth Aldrich was born 27 May 1792 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died 9 May 1793 in Richmond, age 1.

928.4.11. Mary Aldrich was born 24 Sep 1794 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married Moses B. Wheaton.

928.4.12. Phila Aldrich was born 17 Mar 1797 in Richmond (Cheshire) New Hampshire. She married Job Benson.

928.6. Phineas Aldrich was born 1762 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 1816 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. He married sometime around 1790-1800, Hannah Cook. Hannah was born probably around 1770, and died about 1810. Phineas served in the Revolutionary War. He was a blacksmith, and worked in his father’s shop on Quick Stream Brook.

928.6.1. Smith Aldrich was born 18 Oct 1801 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. He married 26 Jan 1823 in Mendon, Caroline Darling.

928.6.2. Wheeler Aldrich was born 6 Feb 1803 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 3 Jul 1879. He married 19 Apr 1827, Melisene Penniman.

928.6.3. Anna Aldrich was born 10 Jul 1804 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. She married 3 Sep 1830 in Uxbridge (Worcester) Massachusetts, Osborn Aldrich, son of Abel Aldrich (~1780-) and Esther Cook. Osborn was born 12 Feb 1806 in Uxbridge. He is probably a cousin, but the relationship is unknown.

928.10. Calvin Aldrich was born 1767 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 18 Feb 1829 in Swanton (Franklin) Vermont. He married 27 Mar 1790 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, Joanna Scott. Joanna was born 1763, and died 18 Apr 1810 in Swanton (Franklin) Vermont.

928.11. David Aldrich was born 1772 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died in Pennsylvania. He married in 1792, Polly Capron, daughter of Dr Comfort Capron (~1750-) and Martha Metcalf. Polly was born about 1775 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died in Pennsylvania. She is probably a cousin, but the relationship is unknown.
David and Polly had seven children (first cousins to us), order and birth dates for most are unknown:

928.11.1. Chloe Aldrich was born 30 Oct 1795 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 11 May 1849. She married Dr Joseph B. Streeter. Joseph was born 26 Mar 1787 in Chesterfield (Cheshire) New Hampshire, and died in 1812.

928.11.2. Fenner Aldrich was born 9 Mar 1802 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died in Joliet (Will) Illinois. He married 18 Jan 1823, Emeline Wade.

928.11.3. Laura Aldrich was born 10 Jun 1808 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died in Tioga Co, Pennsylvania. She married John Sabin.

928.11.4. Levi Aldrich was born sometime around 1800 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died in California. He married Laura Seely.

928.11.5. Dardanna Aldrich was born sometime around 1800 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. She married Wheaton Capron.

928.11.6. Pauline Aldrich was born sometime around 1800 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died in Honesdale (Wayne) Pennsylvania. She married William Blackington.

928.11.7. Polly Aldrich was born sometime around 1800 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. She married Justus Seely.
