I have been working on our genealogy for over 25 years, and started the website in 2005. Some of the lines I have researched myself; some, especially on Rita’s side, we inherited the research of other family members over the past 75 years. Still, the majority of these pages are limited to compilations from published books and what I could find on the internet. The target audience was and remains our family, so the family pages are limited to our own ancestors. I have set it up so that each page is one set of ancestors, with their descendants. Bezaleel Bristol III and Mary Redfield

490. Bezaleel Bristol III was born 30 Mar 1749 in Saybrook (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 20 Jun 1828 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut. He is a son of Bezaleel Bristol Jr [980] and Eunice Dudley [981]. Bezaleel married on 1 Dec 1774 in Killingworth,

491. Mary Redfield. Mary was born 24 Jan 1755 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 9 Jul 1838, probably in Killingworth. She is a daughter of Theophilus Redfield Jr [982] and Martha Crane [983].

Some sources have 1742 for Bezaleel’s birth. They were Congregational. Bezaleel served in the Revolutionary War, Captain of a militia company. Seth Redfield [1964.9.4] was a member of his company.

490.1. Nancy Bristol was born 20 Aug 1775 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 28 Sep 1836. She married Edmund Field.

490.2. Anson Bristol was born 23 Jul 1776 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died in 1835. He married Mary Burr.

490.3. Lois Bristol was born 16 Dec 1777 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 17 Feb 1861. She married in 1813, her cousin Benjamin Bartlett [7864.3.6.4.1], son of Benjamin Bartlett and Ruth Post. Lois and Benjamin are third cousins once removed, both being descended from 7864 Henry Crane and Concurrence Meigs.

490.5. Bezaleel Bristol IV (1782 CT - 1859 MI) had descendants and is expanded below.

490.6. Eunice Bristol was born 17 Feb 1785 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut. She married Josiah Dean.

490.7. Oliver Bristol was born 27 Jan 1787 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 12 Dec 1854. He was married three times and had two daughters (names of wives and children unknown).

490.9. Amy Bristol [245] (1792 CT - 1851 NY) and Daniel Blatchley are direct ancestors, separate page.

490.10. Richard Bristol (1794 CT - 1868 CT) had descendants and is expanded below.

490.4. Phillip Redfield Bristol was born 12 Feb 1780 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 26 Jan 1825. He married Harriet Camp. Harriet was born about 1785 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut.
Phillip and Harriet had four children (first cousins to us):

490.4.1. Henry Bristol was born 7 Jul 1807 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 24 Apr 1868. He married 11 Jan 1832, Marietta Thayer.
Henry and Marietta had five children (second cousins to us):

490.4.1.1. Eliza Jane Bristol was born 27 Jun 1834 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 12 Jun 1859. She married Charles H. Barnes.

490.4.1.2. Caroline Jenette Bristol was born 12 Jul 1838 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut. She married Charles Arnold.

490.4.1.3. Harriet Clarissa Bristol was born 8 Jan 1844 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 15 May 1860, age 16.

490.4.1.4. Charlotte Maria Bristol was born 27 Jul 1845 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut.

490.4.1.5. Henry Ellsworth Bristol was born 13 Feb 1848 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died Dec 1877. He married Carrie M. Parmelee.

490.4.2. Eliza Bristol was born 1 May 1809 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut. She married John Davidson.

490.4.3. Maria Bristol was born 14 Mar 1812 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 23 Sep 1879 in Wabaunsee (Wabaunsee) Kansas. She married on 19 Jun 1836, Austin Kelsey [15670.6.8.8.5.1.4], son of Julius Kelsey and Sylvia Hill. Austin was born 17 Jan 1810, and died sometime after 1880 in Kansas. Maria and Austin are both related to us, but not to each other.
They were Congregational, and were abolitionists. They moved to Kansas with their church (The Beecher Bible and Gun Church) and formed a link in the Underground Railroad.
Maria and Austin had six children (second cousins to us):

490.4.3.1. Smith Ulysses Kelsey was born 1 Sep 1838 in North Madison (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 20 Feb 1906 in Wamego (Pottawatomie) Kansas. He married on 29 Nov 1869, Ann Iler. Ann was born 18 Apr 1846 in Maryland. They had six children.

490.4.3.2. Elizabeth Maria Kelsey was born 29 Feb 1840 in North Madison (New Haven) Connecticut. She married Alonzo Norton.

490.4.3.3. Austin Hough Kelsey was born 9 May 1841 in North Madison (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 18 Feb 1920. He served in the Civil War, in Co. K, 2nd Kansas (source did not specify 2nd Kansas ___ infantry? cavalry?).

490.4.3.5. Egbert Kelsey was born 22 Jan 1849 in Connecticut. He served in the Civil War, in Co. L, 11th Kansas (not specified, probably infantry).

490.4.3.6. Frank Henry Kelsey was born 11 Jan 1855 in Connecticut. He married Margaret Ann O’Neal. They had 6 children.

490.4.4. Harriet Bristol was born 8 Mar 1815 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut. She married Samuel Buell.

490.5. Bezaleel Bristol IV was born 17 Jun 1782 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 18 Dec 1859 in Michigan. He married Olive Gillett.
Bezaleel and Olive had three children (first cousins to us):

490.8. Isaac Bristol was born 7 Nov 1790 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 5 Jul 1840 in Killingworth. He married Elizabeth ___. Elizabeth was born 18 Dec 1787.
Isaac and Elizabeth had two children (first cousins to us):

490.8.1. Louisa Bristol was born 23 Apr 1828 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut.

490.8.2. Elizabeth Bristol was born in 1832 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died the same year.

490.10. Richard Bristol was born 15 Jul 1794 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 4 Mar 1868 in Killingworth. He married Charlotte Norton. Charlotte was born 25 May 1793, and died 4 Sep 1875 in Killingworth.

490.10.1. William Bristol was born 15 Apr 1818 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 8 Jan 1825 in Killingworth, age 7.

490.10.2. Albert Bristol was born 22 Oct 1820 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut. He married Samantha Nettleton. Samantha was born Jan 1820 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died of pneumonia, 27 Apr 1896 in Killingworth.

490.10.3. Eunice Maria Bristol was born 29 Aug 1823 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut. She married Chauncey Dudley.

490.10.4. William Bristol was born 8 Jul 1826 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut. He married Lucy Dowd.

490.10.5. Oliver Bristol was born 29 Sep 1828 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 28 Jan 1851 in Killingworth.

490.10.6. Polly Clarissa Bristol was born 31 Jan 1834 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut.

490.11. Uri Bristol was born 22 Feb 1796 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, and died 31 Mar 1855 in North Madison (New Haven) Connecticut. He married 22 Jun 1826, Naomi Johnson. Naomi was born 26 Jan 1809.
Uri and Naomi had three children (first cousins to us):

490.11.1. Washington Bristol was born 8 Oct 1829 in North Madison (New Haven) Connecticut. He married Emily Platts. Emily was born in 1837.
Washington and Emily had one child that we know of, there were probably others (second cousin to us):

490.11.2. Charles Bristol was born 10 Sep 1832 in North Madison (New Haven) Connecticut, and died sometime after 1878 in Madison (New Haven) Connecticut. Charles married three times. He married first in 1854, his cousin Mary Parmelee [3918.11.1.5.6.1], daughter of Albert Parmelee and Mary Emily Hull. Mary was born in 1835, and died 17 May 1863 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut. Mary and both of their children died in a typhoid epidemic. Charles and Mary are third cousins once removed, both descending from 1964 Theophilus Redfield and Priscilla Grinnell. They are also fourth cousins, through 3932 John Crane and Martha Daggett.
Charles and Mary had two children (both second and fifth cousin to us):

490.11.2.1. Charles S. Bristol was born in 1859 and died 22 Apr 1863 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, of typhoid fever at age 4.

490.11.2.2. William S. Bristol was born about Nov 1860, and died 11 May 1863 in Killingworth (Middlesex) Connecticut, of typhoid fever at age 2.

Charles married second in 1866, Jane Platts. Jane was born around 1835, and died 21 Jul 1866. They had no children.
Charles married third in 1868, Sophronia Crowell. Sophronia was born in 1847.
Charles and third wife Sophronia had six children (second cousins to us):

490.11.2.3. Charles S. Bristol was born 2 Jul 1869 in Madison (New Haven) Connecticut, and died at three months, 4 Oct 1869.

490.11.2.4. Victoria Bristol was born 22 Nov 1870 in Madison (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 4 Jan 1873, age 2.

490.11.2.5. Eliza Bristol was born 22 Jun 1874 in Madison (New Haven) Connecticut.

490.11.3. Daniel Bristol was born 7 Dec 1836 in North Madison (New Haven) Connecticut, and died 29 Sep 1867 in North Madison.
